This should be the moment people finally realise that Farage has turned them into fascists. If you’re choosing this dangerous inhumanity over the rescue work of the RNLI, you’ve lost your minds to racism and hatred.

The kaleidoscope of chaos continues… Oil prices spike 3% on the back of Houti advances in Yemen and the attack on the Saudi Pipeline. And Drump is whining over Ukraine hitting RuZZian diesel processing facilities. When are we going to rid the world of the demented idiot and his criminal cabal?

The alarms are all flashing red.
Screenshot of a thread on X by user Jacob Coxon (@hilbertspaess) detailing his resignation from Anthropic.
The first post reads: "I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below."
The second post reads: "Do not underestimate the power of this technology. These will soon be superhuman systems that can hack anything, revolutionize any field overnight, and acquire real power and resources. We have all witnessed the progress in each of these domains, and progress is not slowing."
The third post reads: "The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible - but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger."Screenshot continuing the thread on X by Jacob Coxon (@hilbertspaess).
The first post reads: "A common response is 'if they truly believe this, why are they still building it?' At OpenAI, many have not deeply internalized the civilizational stakes. At Anthropic, the stakes are well-understood, but they are locked in a race to get there first - they believe no one else will act responsibly, so they must do it themselves, despite the risk."
The second post reads: "Accepting this race and entering the 'endgame' is a hubristic gamble that should not be launched from a private company's Slack. Attempting to speedrun alignment should require extraordinary confidence that there are no better trajectories available."
The third post reads: "I am optimistic about the potential for coordination. Warning shots like the Hugging Face attack have made pacing agreements between U.S. labs more viable. I don’t feel like we’re on track to prevent a global race, which may require costly actions such as a temporary ban on improving model capabilities."
The fourth post reads: "If you are a lab researcher, I urge you to consider what the next few years will actually feel like. Do you want to kick off a superintelligent RL run without a rigorous understanding of its mind? Should you put your head down because 'it’s happening anyway' - or take this moment to call for different conditions?"

Latest leaflet from Count Binface in Clacton "This by-election is a farce...[If Farage wins] there could be ANOTHER by-election here soon... "Vote for me and there won't be...which means together we'll have saved taxpayers an estimated £350,000 before I even start work. Lovely stuff."
COUNT BINFACE for CLACTON

MAKE YOUR VOTE
COUNT!

MAKE 13TH AUGUST BIN DAY!

Election Communication: Count Binface, Count Binface Party, ClactonCLACTON, YOU HAVE A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY!

Hello. I am Count Binface, your friendly neighbourhood intergalactic space warrior, and I'm delighted to be the main challenger to be your next MP.

Vote for me and I promise to put Clacton on the star map in a way that will live forever. And not just Clacton but also Frinton, Kirby Cross, Jaywick, Walton-on-the-Naze and of course Weeley, home of my new Bin HQ. Join forces with me and together we'll send Westminster a message they'll never forget.

I might be from another galaxy but I will be a local champion for you, standing up for the needs and interests of all constituents and making your voices heard like never before. It would be the honour of my life to conquer represent you.

WHY VOTE FOR ME?

This by-election is a farce and should never have been called. If the current MP wins, there could be ANOTHER by-election here soon, because of a parliamentary investigation. Labour, the Conservatives, the Lib Dems and Greens think this is so likely, they're not bothering to take part in this one.

Vote for me and there won't be another by-election, which means together we'll have saved taxpayers an estimated £350,000 before I even start work. Lovely stuff.

You can always vote for a 'normal' party next time. This is a free hit. It's your chance to do something different, and give the establishment something they've never seen before.

Pie chart alongside this section, headed "We have the votes to consume Reform":

Reform 27.1%
Did Not Vote 41.3%
All Other Parties (Not Running This Time) 31.6%

I will cut your taxes, and raise them for everyone else.
Bus fares to be capped at £1.99 and 99 Flakes to cost no more than 99p.
I promise to spend more time in Clacton-on-Sea than Washington DC.
I will build at least one affordable house.

Water privatisation and chronic underinvestment (though no problem loaning up to pay dividends) and the insanity of data centres means we have insufficient water for the 1.5million homes that we actually need. Future wars will be fought over water, not territory or oil. Ack: E&T magazine
Article from E&T magazine about limited water infrastructure:

Historic underinvestment, coupled with rising demand from data centres, could leave England with less than a third of the water it needs to build the 1.5 million homes the government has pledged to deliver this parliament.

According to Water UK, which represents firms in the sector, England will only have enough water to provide for 420,000 homes under the current regime, and the Environment Agency (EA) has failed to take into account the additional demand from data centres when planning infrastructure.

Between 2010 and 2024, Ofwat cut water bills by around 20% in real terms in a bid to keep bills below inflation and not add to the cost-of-living crisis. But one of the consequences has been a lack of investment in the water system that has left the country unable to keep up with the pressures of climate change, population growth and new businesses such as data centres.

In May we said Nigel Farage probably didn't owe tax on his £5m gift. The Guardian now reports the gift followed talks where Farage said he'd need £5m to return to frontline politics. *If* that's right, we think there's a high risk of a £3m tax bill - payable by Reform.
