There is no reason why people who earn their income by going to work every day should pay more tax than those who make their income from profits on shares, crypto or property. The government should be looking to shift taxes from work to wealth at the upcoming Budget. 2/2

And by extension, we need to stand up for our values. Defend the public from groups who use the threat of violence to intimidate us. Identify political actors who are compromised by shady funding or relationships with foreign actors. Fund institutions that defend democratic values like media.

Sanctions on illegal settlements are an important and long overdue step. They must now be followed by an end to all UK arms sales to Israel. We cannot claim to stand up for Palestinian rights and against genocide, while continuing to supply weapons to the state violating them.

It's indisputable Andy Burnham started strongly as PM - both in the initial flurry of policy announcements and in the change of tone and style of communication. Climate change is the one issue where the message and position is unclear and needs political leadership - not just because of the heat.
