We started losing these moments long ago I know. If I was a kid now, I can't fathom asking my low income immigrant parents to spend their wage on something that doesn't even give them with the sight of their kid grinning and holding that gift like treasure. That was their whole point for doing it

My parents were low income so I often just browsed game shops as a kid. Sometimes mum let me get a game. It'd cost her whole day's wage and a chunk of our rent. Dad once told me to check under the car seat and Pokemon Red was there in a bag. Ownership isn't the only thing we lose with physical media

At Strixhaven prerelease this weekend I played at a diff LGS than usual; I have friends & acquaintences that go there (one even works there!) I’ve been once before & it was fine. This time I forgot part of my cards at a table while moving. Went back for it 30 seconds later and gone.

My primary national vibes indicator is that when I used to say things like "I'm gonna walk off into the woods and never be seen again" over minor inconveniences, people used to say that seemed excessive or ask if I was okay, but when I do it now they just say "that sounds nice honestly".
