A long passage describing the journey of an inchworm along a blade of grass. The worm pauses when it runs out of road and searches the air as if saying, "What? No further?" Dillard ends the passage with this note: "'Why don't you just jump?' I tell it, disgusted. Put yourself out of your misery.'"
