Imagine making up what the other person said so you can argue with an invented position. I'm not defending her. I know nothing about her. But the person who raised the motion doesn't change whether it is true.

The core difference between left and right wing politics seems to be, IMHO, that the left want their own lives to be better by making everybody else's lives better. The right want their lives to *feel* better by making everybody else's lives worse.

More of a theocracy, but probably. Yes. Why are you changing the subject?

Zionism is racism. It explicitly wants to create an ethno-state, which is by definition racist. But the text of the motion goes far beyond that. Zionism is racism but while I've not read the full motion the snippets I have seen suggest I would not have voted for it.

I've had a newsworthy piece of climate research spiked x5 TIMES this year by broadcasters, despite meticulous research into the localised impact of climate change on poorer working class communities, in a particular region of the UK . But climate sceptic comms get a free pass. Our media is a joke.

I see three supporting pillars: 1. Supply - people push their narrative for various reasons. 2. Incentive - a lot of people make a lot of money peddling bullshit to the algorithms so they amplify the bad actors from 1. 3. Demand. Any attempt at a solution needs to tackle all three.

I also think discourse around disinformation keeps falling into the trap of treating it as a supply side issue, rather than examining the demand side and what to do about that. That is a far more pressing, and far more complicated, problem.

The title of the motion is provocative but fundamentally accurate. Some of the text inside the motion and the rejection of some of the amendments do go too far, though. But then you watch the usual people closing ranks to shut down the message entirely and I see how it got to this point.

Because you can't attack the motion so you attack the person who raised it. I imagine most of those voting have no idea who she is. I don't know and I don't care.. What matters is the motion. I don't know the content but the headline at least is accurate. By definition any ethnostate is racist.

You gave Freedland a long time to speak against the motion in very damning terms. Are you now going to give one of its supporters the same chance to speak? I don't even agree with the motion as currently worded but this hysterical reaction is certainly doing nothing to convince me they were wrong!

Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
He should have shown some leadership. Not even showing up to vote was weak. But this is a ridiculously one-sided take. I don't like the motion as worded but Zionism _is_ a racist ideology. By definition. An ethnostate has to be. So the people claiming otherwise are doing themselves no favours.

Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Yes. The failure of the peace process back in the 90s was the closest we've ever got from what I've seen. A crying shame. However, you skirted past the contradiction. How can a state be explicitly for a specific race/religion without being racist?

Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
I remember Alta Vista being amazing when it first appeared, though Google's page ranking system and cleaner interface meant they pushed them out pretty fast once they launched. Back when Google's motto was "don't be evil". Oh how times have changed.

Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
If you are saying a state is "for Jews" then by definition it is racist. It has to be because it is giving one race/religion special status. You can argue it is moral or necessary - similar to affirmative action descrimating on racial grounds - but only after accepting it is racist.
020
Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Your argument at the surface is compelling, I accepted it myself at first. Then a few uncomfortable questions came up. Like: What happens to people who already live there? What does being a "Jewish State" entail? Appartheid? Racism and religious supremacy in the constitution?
220
Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
What atrocity is necessary before British Jews will stop supporting the ideology leading to those atrocities? If only 2/3rds identify as Zionists then 1/3rd do not. So Zionism is not required to be Jewish. So why do it? Why allow Israel to continue using Jews worldwide as human shields?
000
Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
For the record. Jews are not responsible for the actions of Israel or Zionists. It says that in the various antisemitism definitions and I completely agree with it. But in that case criticism of Israel and Zionists is not criticism of Jews. They're either separate things or they're not. Pick one.
000
Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
It's the double standards I find most frustrating. Israel, Zionism and Jewishness exist in some sort of quantum-entangled flux where any criticism of any of the three is a racist attack on Jews. But at the same time Jews can never be held responsible for any actions by Israel or Zionists.
100
Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
The fact that many Jews choose to associate with a racist ideology does not making condemning that ideology racist. All apartheid ethnostates are bad. Even Zionist ones. All genocides are bad. Even Zionist ones. I dislike what I've seen of the motion but propaganda like this isn't helpful either.
100
Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
So is genocide.
200
Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Yes, it got put up for debate. That's not the same as making it a "top priority".
100
Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
What makes you think it is a top priority? I know most (all?) party leadership have either disagreed with the motion entirely or said it needs to be substantially amended. GPEW has full internal democracy. Some members caring enough to raise it doesn't make it a priority for the party as a whole.
110
Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Leaving aside the contents of the motion (which I've not had time to read) I don't see much to argue with on the title. Zionism is a nationalist movement to establish an ethnostate. Ethnostates are by definition racist endeavours. Otherwise they're just a state. Is there something I've missed?

Tim @timblue.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
To expand on that. Frontier online models are like a train. Huge. Incredibly powerful. Fast. Serve loads of people. Running a much smaller model locally is like a bicycle. Slower. Much less capacity. But you choose where to go, have full privacy, and don't need to buy tickets for every journey.

So far as I know she considers the first threesome consensual. If I'm wrong, then I'll stand corrected. I make no claim to be an expert on the case. But if she considers it consensual then I am not going to disagree. She's had enough agency removed already, do you not agree?

Michael Tracey seems to see himself as goring sacred cows, and interprets the resulting hate as proof he's a free-thinking iconoclast. The problem is, he's not smart enough to find actual sacred cows, so instead he just acts like a lout, then bizarrely celebrates being widely despised.

We had an estate agent quote us a price 75 grand higher than the comparables and 50 grand higher than any other estate agent. I asked him for his comparables to demonstrate that price was possible and he started waffling about their offices in a more expensive area that would send people to him.

Liar. Small boat crossings peaked under Johnson in 2022 reaching 46,000 in 2022. In current year they are 18,565 and falling. Also prior to Boris Johnson's Brexit there were none.
It's a disaster, and it can all be traced to
Labour ideology. Burnham has no mandate
from the people. He has no real ideas, and
