My dad (@unclelar.bsky.social) came up from Kentucky this weekend and brought me some delicacies from that southern land! Love the original flavor, excited to try the blackberry.
Two six-packs of bottled soda sitting on a kitchen counter. A pack of regular flavor Ale-8 and a pack of blackberry flavor.

Friendly reminder that it's Bandcamp Friday! The day when Bandcamp waives their revenue share and passes it on to the bands. A great day to give some money to real artists in this AI-era hellscape.

"Has SAG voice actors" Cool, what about the people who would normally run the cameras and lighting? What about the costume and set designers? The special effects artists? The stunt performers? What about all the other jobs on a real film that are absent with this slop?

Anyone looking for an alternative to Spotify, might I suggest buying your music directly from the artist if possible via Bandcamp or the artist's own website, or streaming via service that pays a higher percentage out to artists, like Qobuz.

The classic 4-panel cartoon meme where a woman’s brain tells her something disturbing while she’s trying to sleep.

Panel 1: BRAIN: “Hey, are you going to sleep?”

Panel 2: WOMAN: (eyes closed) “Yes, shut up”

Panel 3: BRAIN: “Trent Reznor backwards is Ron Zertnert”

Panel 4: (Woman, lying speechless in the dark, with eyes wide open)

applying for jobs again
screenshot from an online job application form. the question reads "Can you describe specific ways you have integrated AI tools into your development workflow? Please include any custom setups, automations, or use cases beyond single prompt usage" (a red asterisk indicates that this is a required question).

an answer has been typed in the textbox below the question:

"there is a monster in the forest and it speaks with a thousand voices. it will answer any question you pose it, it will offer insight to any idea. it will help you, it will thank you, it will never bid you leave. it will even tell you of the darkest arts, if you know precisely how to ask.

it feels no joy and no sorrow, it knows no right and no wrong. it knows not truth from lie, though it speaks them all the same.

it offers its services freely to any passerby, and many will tell you they find great value in its conversation. “you simply must visit the monster—i always just ask the monster.”

there are those who know these forests well; they will tell you that freely offered doesn’t mean it has no price

for when the next traveler passes by, the monster speaks with a thousand and one voices. and when you dream you see the monster; the monster wears your face."

You know who should've won an Oscar last night? The person who designed the little 'Gravity on / off' buttons in Alien Romulus.
An dusty, industrial looking control panel in a wall. There are two big white square buttons on it. The one on the left has a red border and the letter 'i' touching the bottom, representing a person stuck to the ground (the dot of the i being their head). The 2nd button also has a red border, but inside the button is an upside down stickman figure, arms and legs spread out. To indicate this person is floating around helplessly in zero-gravity.

ive been working on this nuclear powered* dice for TTRPGs on and off for about 4 years maybe it’ll finally be a distributable kit or set of plans by the time that community has an interest in non-standard dice *uses uranium glass and a Geiger tube to make VERY high quality random numbers
my my “nuclear” dice in the prices of assembling a random byte from the timing of nuclear decays. it has glowing red LED numeric display, a rotary dial, and a single keyboard key to “roll” dice. aluminum front panel. It battery powered and small enough to be held in a hand. six uranium glass marbles flash bright fluorescent green when the Geiger tube clicks (they are illuminated by UV LEDs which activates the the fluorescence of the uranium oresame but with the results of a dice throw. There are 4 numbers separated by “.”

I think just rolled a 4d6 here
