Just posted these over on IG - some mollusk frags in the Topanga Fm in Pasadena for #molluskMonday. They're not pretty but fun to find - looks like oyster frags to me but if anyone knows more please chime in! The Topanga outcrops in the cliffs, and the path during rainy season.

I always bring in advertisements on the first day of my Intro to Art History class to convey how powerful images are and how empowering it is to be able to articulate verbally what they’re doing. The visual violence of the Converse ad is such that I wouldn’t even dare to show it in that class.

A nighttime view of a narrow, busy street in 1930s Shinjuku. Pedestrians in period dress walk up and down the little street; the area is illuminated by glowing signs and hanging paper lanterns of all shapes and sizes, suspended above their heads. The limited strip of sky visible overhead is dim and starless.

sketchy comic, Panel 1: jay open mouth “SQUEEAA!”, Panel 2: second jay “lol what even was that? It’s more like… KREEEARR!”, Panel 3: both jays, first one “AHHAHAHA! That’s so bad! I got it… SKEEARREE!”, Panel 4: hawk in foreground looking down on a forest, the two jays are dots in the trees in the background, laughing and attempting the call more, hawk says “wtf.”
