I think another lesson to take from the loss of both Dolly and Tim Curry is that neither of them took themselves seriously but they took the work dead serious that's the most important thing pour all of yourself into the craft but have fun and don't get an ego.

Are they maybe confusing The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings?? I say this knowing that when I read StoryGraph reviews after I finish a book I often say to myself in response to some reviewers, "Oh was the book difficult, or, maybe, you're dumb?" Given the time constraints of the contest, I had to retrofit a reasoning at the last minute. Needless to say it was too far a stretch for NYC Midnight readers, and I didn't move on to the next round. The story stuck with me and over a decade tweaks were made. The work continued.

This story started as a entry to a NYC Midnight contest over 10 years ago. In the prompt for the story, the location was "an exercise class." Very quickly, the bare bones of this story was formed, and my grad school idled brain realized too late exercise and exorcise are in fact different words.
