I’m really happy that our work is public now. Former UC San Diego graduate student Sam Crow really deserves all the credit here. He did some excellent work and gave a nice talk this afternoon. Boeing was great to work with and graciously let us test in their lab.

I had brief initial cognitive dissonance when I first set Chrome as default, but adjusted quickly; unaware of a standalone PDFium viewer. Other PDF viewers (eg Preview) are also only a rt-click away. From a human factors POV I *want* the safest default viewer for when I just double click on a PDF.

You do you, but there are objectively sound reasons why Chrome (via PDFium) remains likely to be one of the safest default PDF-opening apps for most people using internet-connected computers. Of all the things one could gripe about re Chrome, default PDF viewing shouldn't be one of them.

Some yrs ago there were several UK marketimentaries that included Lego's existential crisis, and also wound up explaining clearly how IP-related dynamics were both the cause of the near-annihilation and of the resurgence. Lego is culturally, anthropologically, and economically complicated.
