I've decided I'm quitting without a landing place. The professional humiliation of a demotion while still expecting me to do all my old work, my new inexperienced boss's micromanagement, the snobbery of this new team against my old one...I just don't think I can do it.

This is a really insightful analysis. As a biostatistician these kinds of statistics are not my wheelhouse and I really appreciate reading about statistical methodology in polling aggregation and "correction." It all comes back to 2024 being the new trend or an outlier. I lean towards the latter.

Even my best is not all that salient to my speech patterns. I'd say a lot of this comes from purposefully becoming more "folksy" in the way I talk in order to make people feel at ease. (Potentially the most neurodivergent thing I've ever done.)

I've developed a cold. I never get sick. It was 7 years in between getting sick before the last one. 11/5/24 was the last time I got a cold, so my body considers this as earth shattering and stressful as Trump getting elected.
