Badenoch says Tories would scrap inheritance tax on family homes and allow couples to leave extra £1m
The leader of the opposition says the changes would mean the number of families paying inheritance tax would "fall by more than half".

Quite remarkable that you can mess up a landslide victory quite this badly and quite this quickly. Labour had huge potential to achieve whatever it wanted to. Instead they are going the way of the Conservatives - interminable civil war.

Reform’s manifesto is not much different to the Tory manifesto. If anything the Tory one has a some interesting ideas outside of the usual stuff that is always in (M4 relief road etc) compared to the thin gruel of Reform’s policies.

The daft thing is that with Proportional Representation there'd be no need for this self-destructive war within Labour. It could split into its component parts - left and right - and people could vote for what they wanted. It's only First-Past-the-Post that forces these irreconcilables together.

There's no reason to accept this as normal, though. Much of Starmer and Labour's unpopularity is not misfortune but his own doing. Mandelson was a choice. Consistently pursuing policy positions designed to appeal to people who will not vote for you - and alienating core supporters - is a choice.

Never been a better time for the Tories to drag themselves back to the right of centre. Stop banging on about immigration and Brexit, move on to supporting small businesses and tax reform. Won’t happen though, like Labour they just want to try to “out Reform” Reform. Mental

Unsurprising that Reform are suggesting that the young person’s minimum wage should be reduced. Young people aren’t voting for reform in big numbers and it will play well with boomers who think young are only spending money on coffee and avocados.
