His job depends on being the one person Trump could trust to turn the military into a machine that will kill civilians with the ethics of a warlord for a moment of Trump’s choosing. So being a homocidal maniac is what he’s got to lean into.

I was thinking about how the elite defined 2025 as a year of cowardice. But I still can't find many examples of elites denouncing what Trump is doing to science, higher education, blended families, and the nation's soul in general, especially among those with the most security and resources.

To speed up mass deportations, the Trump administration didn't just launch raids—it stripped $200M+ from nonprofit legal aid groups, bringing them to the brink of collapse. Here’s how immigrant legal defense barely survived the campaign to kneecap them:

First Trump came for immigrants. Then he came for their lawyers.

How local cops are forced to feed their license plate data to the feds, the two loudest birds on the planet, and a very strange video from the FBI.
404media.co
How the Feds Get Your Data
_Surveillance isn’t just about who is collecting the data. Surveillance is, of course, also about who that data ends up with. A great story from Jason today looks at that with Flock and other automatic license plate reader (ALPR) data: some local cops are being forced to feed their ALPR data into obscure federal systems where that data may be kept for much longer than usual, and searched by many more people and agencies than the residents being surveilled probably realize._ _And, we now know which birds are the two loudest on the planet. Maybe. Welcome back to our new experiment with daily newsletters. If you like this,_ subscribe here_._ ## How Cities Are Forced to Funnel License Plate Data to a Massive Federal Surveillance Program The Trump administration is using an anti-drug trafficking grant program from the 1980s to force cities around the country to funnel their ongoing collection of automated license plate reader data into large federal surveillance centers that fall under the White House’s jurisdiction, according to public records and court documents reviewed by 404 Media. ### This post is for subscribers only Become a member to get access to all content Subscribe now

Of course @brandyzadrozny.bsky.social has the most interesting review of the MAHA Summit. She asks who organized the event, who attended, and where the money goes. Kennedy likes to keep his grift in the family. Zadrozny notes: "Finn was the summit’s first speaker." www.ms.now/news/maha-su...
If the divergent, often competing pet interests of the activists within MAHA made the movement hard to define, the structure behind the business of MAHA is murkier still. The summit was presented by MAHA Center, a nonprofit helmed by Tony Lyons, publisher of Kennedy’s books and other contrarian works. Lyons also runs MAHA Action, a separate nonprofit, and MAHA PAC, the rebranded super PAC that bankrolled Kennedy’s presidential bid and is now backing Republican candidates in the midterms. Tickets to the summit went to “MAHA members” who enrolled at the $6,000-a-year tier — a membership advertised and presented by Lyons’ MAHA Action but whose agreement is with MAHA Holdings, a separate entity with no public-facing website, about which little is known beyond its CEO, former tech entrepreneur Alex Hardy, and one board member: Kennedy’s 29-year-old son, Finn.
