I went out for bread, but took a detour to a couple of local second-hand shops right near the grocery store. I haven’t played a realistic basketball game since Bulls vs Blazers, and I wanted to try “The Journey” in FIFA. I never saw Black Sabbath live, and this’ll be my first Star Trek novel.

I played a Tall Tale with two friends in Sea of Thieves last night, and I think that is probably the coolest thing in the game. I love just sailing around and fighting skeletons and digging up treasure, but the structured narrative & puzzle-solving were exactly what I needed.

I beat Ace Combat 2 today, and it was just so much fun. I feel like I finally learned how to play this sort of game. Between Top Gun putting me to sleep and F15 Fighting Falcon absolutely baffling me, it was a rocky 40-yr start, but I’m finally coming around on these newfangled plane games.

A 3.8-metre turtle mikoshi made by about 70 Tokyo University of the Arts students for this year's Geisai festival is now for sale on the Dipsy marketplace for ¥1.5 million until 6 October. If no buyer is found, it will be scrapped. A mikoshi is a portable shrine carried at festivals.

Getting a small e-reader ended up being a pretty good idea. It’s small enough I can carry it along with my phone. It weighs just a little more than my watch, and it’s now chock full of classics from Project Gutenberg and Standard Ebooks.

The nice thing about being 14 years behind on a game series is that when you feel the excitement of the zeitgeist surrounding the new, you can go back to the old that you missed. I might give that first GBA Fire Emblem game a go. To this day, sprite-work still wows me in a way 3D models just don’t.

My phone and my TV are always listening to me so they can feed me targeted ads. These devices know what I like; they know what I want. I give them that information directly with searches & hours of speech, which is why it strikes me as odd that the advertising is somehow ALWAYS IRRELEVANT.

After 47 hours of Quake I & II campaigns, expansions, and alternate versions, I am now ready to try Dawn of the Machine. It’s been a month and change of good fun. Those 47 hours felt like maybe 10. Quake is just so damn good.

Roguelites feel to me like predatory design. They’re pay-to-win, but you pay in time to make the game easier with permanent upgrades. Most roguelites are in genres I like, but I want my progress to be decided by skill, not meta progression. I like games designed to be won with DEEZ MFIN HANDS.

A while back, I thought I’d try this game because it was cheap, and I love the Sega Ages line & M2. About 35 hours later, I was posting top times on Speed Run dot Com. I love this game. Racing games only need one to three tracks and great control.
