Matthew Shepard died on October 12th in 1998, 28 years ago. His ashes were interred at Washington National Cathedral 20 years later, in 2018, because before Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson offered the Cathedral's crypt, his family had no place for him that would be safe from desecration.

Opinion | The Trump administrations’s use of an anti-trans slur is more than just rhetoric
History has shown us that authoritarian leaders facing political trouble don't moderate their attacks on marginalized communities. They double down.

People ask me this all the time, so I’ll just say: look at the transgender hate panic, a thing that had no organic element and did not arise from the public, and was instead imposed upon everyone by the world’s most hateful, poisonous and malignant media class.

Right, in most likelihood the next St Valentine's'll be targeted at either a minority group or at school children, so I wouldn't hold my breath in the context of enforcement.

Oh my lord, how is this so hard to understand? The democrats are not entitled to our votes by virtue of having the republicans' guns pointed at our heads. If they want to actually win elections, and want us to vote for them, then they have to earn our votes by actually fucking standing for us.

this is how we got here by the way, in 2020 biden openly mocked anti trans attacks on him and they didn't stick and public opinion didn't shift. then in 2024 dems started just letting this shit all go unanswered and suddenly public opinion turned against us. they've abandoned us

The press will do stories on Republican sex creeps, but it will never, ever point out -- much less make an ongoing narrative out of -- the fact that the GOP has been *ridden* with sex creeps for decades. You have to be blind not to see the pattern.

We should probably just drop him off on a glacier somewhere and let him figure it out. Sort of a sky burial with extra steps, if you will. Cause frankly I don't know how you're supposed to have a functioning society with people like him wandering around.

rolled out of my bed this morning and barreled down Linwood for 10 minutes to have the privilege of watching a neighbor get kidnapped with his son in front of a YMCA and high school, busses full of kids watching, while a kcpd officer joyfully cooperated. It was a car crash. How did ICE know?

Dems replaced action on trans rights with hollow statements, then dropped those statements, then embraced anti-trans rhetoric. Now supporting anti-trans laws and blocking pro-trans ones. At every step the "they're betraying us" radicals were correct and "be patient" liberals were completely wrong.

being so fr when I say that transmisogyny has put feminism back like 50 years

what i thought we had distanced ourselves from was the reduction of women to vaginas and wombs and the ability to bear children. i thought we had progressed past 'dresses are for women and pants are for men. i thought we progressed past the idea that someone is less of a woman if she does not adhere strictly to beauty standards. i thought we progressed past the idea that naturally being comfortable adhering to highly feminine standards is vulgar. but i (sarcastically) guess no one could have predicted that trans-exclusive feminism would be the downfall of all the progress we've made

And a huge point behind the bathroom bans is to limit trans people from being able to exist in public. How much can you actually go out if you can't legally or safely use a restroom anywhere but your own home? Gotta make sure you stay within a safe distance of a legal bathroom, after all.

If that's actually a sincere question, then yes, both of those examples have been floated. Less than two weeks ago trump suggested that hospitals should begin reversing surgeries, and many bills (such as Ohio's HB 249), both passed and undergoing legislation have been written to ban performances...
