Schröder. Maaßen. Now Hanning. These aren’t isolated scandals. It’s systemic and ongoing for decades: the German government and security establishment are compromised. This case was discovered by accident. Anyone who thinks we’ve found the last breach is kidding themselves.

Butterbutt. An older comic.
A four-panel comic titled "yellow-rumped warbler poem". In panel 1, a yellow-rumped warbler stands on a branch in a late autumn scene, and says "Fall is here." In panel 2, the warbler watches a brown leaf fall to the ground, and says "Winter's near." In panel 3, the warbler faces the viewer as brown leaves fall, and says "Need some cheer?" In panel 4, the warbler is showing its luminous yellow rump, and cheerfully says "See my rear."

Pro-tip: Seasonal blips like this distort month-to-month changes in jobs, leading July to look particularly weak and August to look strong. That's why taking a three-month average is often your best bet.
Line chart titled "The fall then rise in teacher's jobs was mostly a seasonal adjustment glitch" showing jobs in local government education measured in thousands of employees. Employment remained stable around 8.2 million through September 2026 despite an unusual 52,000-job drop in July 2026 that appears to be a seasonal adjustment anomaly rather than genuine job loss. The series grew modestly from 8.15 million in September 2024 to 8.20 million in September 2026, with the July dip to 8.16 million representing a temporary statistical aberration that was largely reversed by August and September.

Here’s what we really need to focus a lot more discussion on — you don’t need to hate cars in order to want people to have the CHOICE to walk, bike and take public transit in your city. Better cities provide more choices, and work better for EVERYONE. Bad cities offer only dependency. #CarDependency

So far Trump has tried to rig the midterms by: 1. Attempted to nationalize voter registration & voting requirements. 2. Mid-decade gerrymanders. 3. Tried to use the USPS to obstruct mail-in balloting. 4. Used taxpayer money for ads. 5. Intimidation of election officials.

One thing we can do to reduce the number of vehicles on the road is to encourage remote, hybrid work and to do some actual research with hybrid workers themselves. So far, it's all been rhetoric and vibes. This "nostalgic" push to drive people back to offices full-time is a waste for everyone.

We have the third worst traffic congestion in Canada and in 2025, Halifax drivers lost more than 111 hours of their lives to rush hour traffic. That's more than four and a half days. Last week we asked for a plan. This government patted themselves on the back.

They refuse to fund Halifax’s Rapid Transit Strategy. They ordered civil servants back to their downtown offices. And they failed to make sure new communities have enough public transit. They even tried to slash the student bus pass program in the Spring—a cut we had to pressure them to walk back.

It's this type of b & w thinking that escalates the conflict. IF we had something in the labour code that guaranteed a fair arbitrator that both parties agree on, I think it could work. Is this what the Libs are proposing? Not that I can see. Do I trust them? No, which is why we need this guarantee.

I'm of two minds here w/public jobs as I'm in. The public can be held hostage in all of this, regardless of who's wrong. If we could guarantee a good and fair arbitrator that both parties agree with, that might be the best option. What I want to avoid is privatization of public jobs.

Oh, yes. And I didn't say that it should be forced. All I said was that I prefer arbitration. It was inferred that I agree it should be forced. Mediation and arbitration can work, and many arbitrators have ruled in our favour. Striking has risks, too. Should the option be taken away? Probably not.

Our union actually voted to have binding arbitration rather than striking. We may put this up for a vote again, but I imagine we'll vote the same way. Who knows? What really needs to stop is dragging out arbitration hearings and decisions. We've had some good arbitrators, but it's a gamble.

Nothing about UBI discourages work. It's a floor. It increases people's ability to choose what they do. It reduces survival stress. It enables people to spend more time with others. All of this increases well-being. All of this is what people born rich are born with. Where are the concerns for them?

I'm in a union w/binding arbitration. I'd rather have that than to strike. What I've emailed my MP is about having some kind of swift resolution component. This is a huge issue, and it needs to stop. Arbitration hearing dates and decisions take way too long. We need to have laws that prevent this.
