How much more absurd could lethal injection protocols be than “at this juncture we aren’t sure whether we should kill the subject or get life-saving medical treatment for the subject”?

This is preposterous as it is monstrous Pike survived the execution procedure and now her lawyers, unable to reach the governor or state AG office, are rushing an emergency motion to the Tennessee Supreme Court in their *car* seeking an order to get her medical care

This 33-year-old nurse told the FBI she knew she was “going to set him free” after border patrol agents brought in a man whose face was bloodied and seriously injured. She treated him and helped him escape, and she faces charges now. He got away, and they never relocated him.

I remember when my law school brought in some dirt bag speaker from the Boston Globe who's whole schtick was being against title IX protections for victim reporters of sexual harassment and assault. And she was like "well, I have 3 sons, and what if THEY get accused" and I could not explain to you

funny to me that last year taylor lorenz was privately trying to suggest i was being funded by peter thiel after we got into an argument over her shitty takes, and now she’s literally running cover for him saying being evil is good. quite a journey she’s on.
Taylor Lorenz: "Listening to this whole interview and these comments in context you see he is actually making a pretty nuanced point. You can criticize him all u want but taking clips out of context to manufacture outrage is so lame— critique what he actually said!"

I can endlessly recount stories like this, also from “queerfeminist” communities, where rapists get “rehabilitated” because thwy have changed! and that means they visit queer feminist events that their victims then obviously don’t go to because it is massively triggering.

her family is well integrated into the local christian community, while she had to move away. and so it is. and so it has always been. the lives of the perpetrators are paved with the wounds of their victims that will never heal.

there’s this woman who I kinda know from my village who at some point after moving back to the village remembered how she was raped by her father as a child, she filed charges, her mother protected him, the charges were dismissed, she moved away from the village again.

anyway, some perpetrators are rich like epstein, some are not, like dominique pelicot, some are white, some are not, in the telegram group there are several non-white men. the common denominator is that they are men. men are a class.

if you try to google for that case, it’s hard to find the right one, because it’s so common that other cases will come up, like one in berlin, or the case of a 14 year old girl in vienna.

there are chat groups with thousands of members were men organize to drug women and rape them. one man was convicted for this in munich this year, from a telegram group with more than 2000 people. he repeatedly drugged and raped his girlfriend, and shared videos in that group.

This is why the DA smearing the victim and claiming she changed her story is so awful. A lot of these guys are already using that as their reasoning for why we can’t believe her and get upset. And many of them are journalists so they’ll influence much wider public perception and her actual cases

For me, the hardest thing about stories like the Cornell gang rape case isn’t reading the initial details—although that is hard. What’s even harder is when men online, especially the journalists and pundits, start trying to combat the feminist outrage by purposefully seeding doubt and victim-blaming

Seeing people post about how unfair the “mob justice” against the Cornell rapists is doesn’t really move me when there is no justice for survivors. The system doesn’t work; it enacts further punishment on the victims. Society is even crueler. So spare me the “mob justice” rhetoric about the accused

The jackals are out, as they usually are for a woman who speaks up in a way that challenges patriarchy. (And a lot of why victims don't come forward or withdraw--as a Weinstein victim did--is because the misogynist public and legal system launch their own punitive assaults.)
