The weather skunk says it is, or has been, raining. It's so nice to see a skunk around again after so many years of no skunks. I doubt my neighbors feel the same way. 🤣 #mammals

A black and white night photo from my camera trap showing part of my garden with small landscaping rocks to the bottom left. Dirt, bark and leaf litter to the bottom right of the frame. Various plants, shrubs and flowers are in the middle and background. It has been raining and a striped skunk is in the photo, broadside to the camera, its head towards the left of the frame. Its fur is clumped in places as it is wet. Overall the skunk looks soggy but fit and healthy.

Second visit to SN Eos, the farthest Supernova ever discovered, 26 bn light years away (!), after universe stretching. 101.1 in target name is the red dot on the right, inside the pink ellipse. The blueish image is from the first visit. The filters are different but it seems that the SN was brighter

Guten Morgen zusammen - wie gewohnt mit einem aktuellen Bild der Sonne, heute wieder per Satellit GOES-19. Credit: NOAA

Die ganze erdzugewandte Seite der Sonne in orangeroter Farbe. Auf der Oberfläche ein größerer dunkler Bereich - offenbar ein Koronales Loch, also ein Gebiet in der Gashülle um die Sonne von geringerer Dichte. Außerdem drei hellere Regionen. Ansonsten ein Saum aus Strahlung um den Rand, links und rechts auf Äquatorhöhe etwas stärker ausgeprägt.

Die ganze erdzugewandte Seite der Sonne in gelber Farbe. Auf der körnig dargestellten Oberfläche rechts der Mitte eine etwas hellere Region. Spektakulär geht es ganz rechts am Rand zu. Auf der Zeigerposition drei Uhr heben sich mehrere Bögen aus Sonnenmaterie leuchtend hell vom schwarzen Hintergrund des Weltalls ab. Sie entstehen, weil das ausströmende Gas ein elektrisch geladenes Plasma ist, das den Magnetfeldern der Sonne folgt und in ihnen wie in gebogenen Schläuchen gefangen ist. Auch links auf zehn Uhr passiert das gerade, wenn auch etwas weniger hell und eher wie eine diffuse Wolke wirkend.

Die ganze erdzugewandte Seite der Sonne in gelber Farbe. Wie an den Vortagen zwei hellere Regionen auf der Oberfläche, die aber inzwischen infolge der Rotation der Sonne nach rechts gewandert sind. Dazwischen auch etwas dunklere Gebiete und drumherum ein Strahlenkranz, der fein strukturiert aussieht und schnell ins schwarze Weltall übergeht.

I saw this black bear go down the drive so I quickly checked this camera, terrible lighting at this time of day - it's very challenging for the camera where I have it. I have it here for night photos but it was a treat to see it in person and have it on camera too. Stay safe, Bear. #mammals

An evening color photo showing part of my garden with small landscaping rocks in the foreground and various plants, shrubs and flowers in the middle and background. A black bear is very close to the camera on the right side of the frame, it's lying down with its head towards the left side of the frame, its nose is in-between its two front paws. This camera does well in all lighting conditions but this is very challenging for it with such bright background at this time of day and quite dark under the plants and yew tree here.

The same spot in my garden only now the black bear is standing up, broadside to the camera with its nose to the ground, sniffing for something. The camera did the best it could in these really challenging lighting conditions- very bright background and dark foreground. I'm surprised it did this well.

Same spot in the garden, this time the bear is lying down its head towards the right side of the screen. Its mouth is open and we can see some of its teeth. It is very friend shaped. The lighting isn't great but good enough to see it quite well. I love bear.
