I hope New Yorkers will challenge Mamdani about this. Too often, people feel they need to be absolutely for or against a politician — ignoring their missteps or throwing them out with the bathwater. You can like and/or believe in someone and still challenge them to deliver on their promises.

I think about this basically every day now.
Art of circles around flowing text: the flowing text reads “This is how change happens” and inside pairs of circles it reads “our actions are working/they are not enough” “nothing we do is sufficient/everything we do matters” “we must be strategic/we must operate on multiple fronts simultaneously” and “time is of the essence/we have to work for the long haul”

I debated writing this. It can feel tempting, upon encountering yet another instance of this administration’s racism, to let it be. How many ways can you say the same thing over and over again? And yet we have to write it down, if for nothing else, so those who come after us know we were against it.
