Got a glimpse of the restoration work done and still to go at the Basilica of St. Mary here in Minneapolis. We got a post-Mass look: The ceiling paint work and the second shot of the stone show the most change. But so do the stained glass windows! Also lot to go, as the scaffolding shot shows.

It would have been nice, Strib, if you'd emphasized that the school closure vote will be taken by a LAME DUCK board just a couple day after the November election. Connect some dots, please. There is skulduggery afoot. replica.startribune.com/infinity/art...

Michael Baskins is the guy who, after losing two previous City Council elections (and buying himself some suits with campaign dollars), dreamed up a plan to eliminate all of the city's majority-nonwhite wards, which the Minneapolis Times published, then pulled down within hours.

school board politics is typically not ugly and michael baskins is trying to change that by dragging down the race with his troll behavior, like laughing at a press release that his opponent christin crabtree put out alongside shannon gibney and becca dryden, three moms. we don't need this

These homes make up over 40% of the available rentals on Nicollet Island (22 of 47 units), which means nearly half the units in the island are affordable because of these historic buildings.

Thanks for bringing up multi family housing! These historic homes are a collection of 5 fourplexes & 1 duplex, totaling 22 1- and 2-bedroom unit, and of them are classified as affordable or deeply affordable. Due to our budget, keeping them as NOAH is more feasible than redevelopment at this time.

Dear Constituents and Community Members,

Thank you for your emails and phone calls over the past several weeks inquiring about the status of the Nicollet Island Historic Homes Limited Partnership (NIHH) lease in the event of a sale. As you might imagine, given the complex nature of the lease and the sublease through CPED, this has been an intricate issue to approach. After discussions with staff and legal counsel, I am pleased to inform you the Board will be considering a resolution with the aim of preserving affordable housing on Nicollet Island. This item will be discussed during our next regular board meeting on Wednesday, October 7th.

It is our interpretation that affordable housing is a requirement of the original lease, and remains a requirement as long as the land is leased from the park board. The resolution would specify “that the Board of Commissioners directs the Superintendent to review thoroughly any terms of any offer or sale between NIHH and any proposal to buy, acquire or assume the Sublease or any ownership interests in the Ground Lease or properties as well as thoroughly review the proposed terms of any new Sublease between CPED and any new possible sublessee or owner with respect to the properties now held or leased by NIHH and the MPRB expects such transaction will reflect a plan and provisions for affordable housing for low and moderate income people;” (emphasis mine).

I am hopeful that my fellow Commissioners will join me in supporting this resolution. In previous meetings, Commissioners Engelhart and Forney have voiced their support for maintaining affordable housing on Nicollet Island, and I feel this is an issue that is important to many others on the Board as well.

Thank you for your efforts around this, and I look forward to getting this resolution passed!

PROVISIONS IN THE GROUND LEASE AND GROUND SUBLEASE BETWEEN THE MINNEAPOLIS
PARK AND RECREATION BOARD AND THE COMMUNITY PLANNING AND ECONOMIC

LOCATED WITHIN CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI RIVERFRONT REGIONAL PARK
Whereas, The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) was created by the Minnesota

Whereas, In 1985, the MPRB entered a Ground Lease with the Minneapolis Community
