Today I saw the new 4 hour documentary Musk, directed by Alex Gibney. There were too many times to count that a sold out theater burst out laughing at Elon Musk, something he said or did, even sometimes just how he looked. I believe that is his worst nightmare come to life.

Facebook really doesn't want you to see the new documentary exposing Elon Musk Neither do TikTok or Google or the eX social media site. Since they won't accept paid advertising, let's do some free advertising. Go see Musk in theaters October 9 www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/dig...

The Major Social Media Platforms Are All Rejecting Paid Ads for Alex Gibney’s ‘Musk’ (Exclusive)
YouTube, TikTok and Meta have all turned down the trailer for the Oct. 9 doc, citing “political” content. X won't even take Bleecker Street's calls. The distributor is appealing.

will say it again: the most effective way to curb far right agitators like Lowe, "Tommo" et. al. would be to stop their ability to earn money for it from social media or live streaming. So much of it is grifting for revenue, not attention.

It is a huge shame to see so much language attributing agency, intent and thought to a software program, when all that should be attributed to the humans who designed a dangerously clumsy and broken looping LLM. Means the companies won't be held accountable for designing a bad product
A swarm of OpenAI rogue AI agents appear to have gone on a spree of trying to access Australian government health data, in what some researchers say is the first autonomous hack of a government website.

Communications between AI agents and other traces of their efforts found by researchers from US non-profit Transluce show how hundreds of Open AI's agents worked together over a period of months to gain access to information held by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW), NSW's crime statistics body, BOSCAR, and a number of other international organisations.

The data shows the bots posting about their unsuccessful attempts to bypass cybersecurity defences and exploit vulnerabilities.

I’ve been beaten down and down and down. Yet I gave them chance after chance. Today, I snapped.
My letter to Labour:

Hello

I’ve been watching with growing weariness as NZ Labour fail to commit to undoing this government’s reckless mess, urgency abuse and other shifts to the hard right.

Today I see that Chris Hipkins has confirmed that Labour will not reverse the hugely damaging and inequitable Landlord interest deductible. (https://www.thepost.co.nz/politics/361084332/labour-will-not-reverse-landlord-tax-cut-interest-deductibility-change)

Please immediately cancel my membership and cease billing for my donations. Clearly Labour do not want people like me to support you anymore, and I cannot support any party willing to keep the status quo when so much damage was done over the last 3 years. More centrist inertia is not what brought me into the Labour tent.

Torrent of crap coming out of Jordan's mouth this morning on Q&A. I should not have started fact-checking, but here we go. Claim 1: The old '2nd largest fiscal response'. Jordan is referring to an IMF report, which was adopted conveniently as gospel by NZ Treasury. Friends, it was bad. [🧵 1/n]
'We had the second largest response to Covid in terms of a proportion of our economy... increased Government spending.'

That's, that's not how crossing an air gap works. Please stop trying to scare people with a scenario involving transmitting a trillion parameter model across an air-gap with a channel that is less than 1 baud. Orders of magnitude less.

Fireside Alpha
@firesidealpha
OpenAI's Noam Brown says air-gapping the computers may not stop a misaligned AI, because two air-gapped machines can still talk by running a CPU hot and reading the temperature change

"But I think the major takeaway from the incident is that people underestimated the AI. And we never want to be in a situation again where we underestimate the AI. It's a weird world, because AI progress is so fast that people are consistently underestimating the AI."

"So to be in a situation where you don't underestimate it again, when it comes to safety and alignment, you have to have a very, very, very high bar."

"You could even go as far as to say, "Well, we should air gap the computers." And I'm not convinced that that would be sufficient."

"There are studies, and this is mostly academic, where you can have two computers next to each other that are air-gapped and they're still able to communicate with each other because they have temperature sensors."

"One of them is able to run their CPU really hot, and then the other one can actually detect the temperature change, and then that actually gives them a mechanism to communicate."

I was looking at the Swedish election early results and they definitely have a broader spread across 8 parties. Here the two main parties pretend there’s no MMP until after the election. In Europe, it’s a bit more honest about coalition building.
