This is a truly grotesque "trial" of a vaccine known to be safe and effective. It will in practice randomly withhold that treatment from a percentage of children to see what happens. It is absolutely the reverse of good practice.

Britons kept in dark about scale of climate crisis, say viewers of ‘first-of-its-kind’ emergency briefing
Nine out of 10 people felt motivated to act after watching film outlining threats to food security, economy and public health The British government must be honest about the scale of the threat posed by climate and nature breakdown, researchers have said, after nine out of 10 people surveyed after watching a briefing on the issue felt more motivated to act. Last November, in the “first-of-its-kind national emergency briefing”, nine experts gave stark assessments in Westminster Hall in London of the scale of the changes needed in the UK to adapt to the rapidly changing climate and ecological landscape. The field of psychiatry has a lot to answer for here. There's no evidence ME/CFS is caused by psychological factors and no evidence that behaviour-changing 'treatments' work. Not only do they lead to patient harm, they also contribute to a loss of confidence in healthcare and science more broadly.

Starting in 2026, Tellus operates as a Diamond Open Access journal.
All articles are published Open Access with no fees for authors — no submission charges and no article processing charges (APCs).
This model is made possible through financial support from the Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL), the International Meteorological Institute (IMI), and the Bolin Centre for Climate Research, which together cover the journal's publication costs.

I’m on Opinion newsletter duty this morning and I wanted to start with a few words on The Telegraph’s toxic “How having a disability became cool” article.
Back in 2024, I wrote about “sickfluencers” – a rightwing moniker for disabled people who use social media to help others apply for benefits. Recently, I’ve noticed the term has expanded to include women who commit the crime of … using a mobility aid in public. This week, the Telegraph ran a piece claiming young women are “turning chronic illness into a lifestyle trend”, including by not working. The headline? “How having a disability became cool.”

It’s hard to think of a nastier narrative. You can say that the writers and editors publishing this stuff are just ignorant of disability, but I struggle to believe it. It feels like wilful ignorance: repeating tropes that fuel an agenda casting doubt on disabled people and the state’s duty to support us if we need it.Readers who use mobility aids often tell me about the impact of seeing these stories spread online; a growing sense of shame that eats at the stomach until one day, they put their cane back in the cupboard and walk to Tesco in pain. Or they don’t go out at all. Someone should be ashamed in all of this, sure, but it’s not disabled readers.
