Happy Black History Month! Here is my favorite story about a Black American you may not know about: Robert Smalls. He commandeered a confederate ship and sailed himself, his family, and the other enslaved crew and their families to freedom. THROUGH waters controlled by the Confederacy.

A mother Black Bear with 3 cubs taken in 2024 in our Cape Breton Highlands National Park just a short drive from where we live.

I don't do the hikes I once did due to how the Long Covid has impacted my health, mostly the shortness of breath and the exhaustion factors, but I still do try to get out a bit when I can.

Advent window 5th December. The White Rabbit. I made this for a wonderful Alice exhibition we had at the much missed blue ginger gallery in autumn 2017. It was a particularly fabulous event and I made many pieces.
Stained glass panel of the white rabbit (from Alice in Wonderland) entering a glowing underground passageway with chequered floor. The entrance is lit by a lantern but the scene is surrounded by the dark red earth of a burrow in which a mole emerges and beetles crawl. It is strangely lit by enchanting star like lights. How did they fall into this subterranean world?
