Reminds me of where I grew up, surrounded by sparkling seas and sheep-gnawed clifftops. A bright, blinding place, far from any forests. Beaches were full of sunbathers and children and fishermen, and, on occassion, a body would wash up.

During a time where most of Hollywood feels heartless and shallow, with execs drooling at the possibility of replacing everyone with robots, I really want to celebrate creatives who go through painstaking, meticulous processes to make practical effects, physical sets, high quality costumes, etc.

The best part of "The Backrooms" film (for me) is the lack of CGI... they built actual sets, so large that the cast and crew would often get lost in the yellow rooms. It is the most anti-Ai film I have ever seen.

After nearly a year of searching, I finally found a cotton lavender! Nurseries near me seemed to stop selling this lovely plant... It has a bright, cleansing sort of smell, like eucalyptus and sage and bay leaves all rolled into one. We had one in my childhood home, and I was obsessed with it.

I will never understand all the anxiety about boys not reading books. When I was a kid, we were reading Goosebumps, Animorphs, and Harry Potter. Stuff that had a lot of parents (in my community) clutching their pearls over!
