Does anyone have any leads on Robert Tofte's copy of Stowe's Chaucer (1561). It was sold by Maggs in 1976 to a private individual. The 1976 purchaser has since died, and the trail has gone cold. Any leads gratefully received.

@drdavidrundle.bsky.social has produced this wonderfully detailed and elegant description of three fragments from a thirteenth-century witness to the Heroides from our Guernsey haul! A taste of things to come…

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... Working on and with fragments is always an excitement and privilege, but as a scholar who sometimes writes about drama, identifying one of these fragments as derived from a fifteenth-century secular play text has been particularly thrilling.

This is giving quite Vérard-y vibes, but wonder if anyone can help further...maybe @lankian.bsky.social? I'm not convinced there is a direct print source, but the grotesques especially feel like a response to French incunables/post-incunables. Source: digital.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/objects/922b...

Today’s niche query is to do with the form of words used for the morning prayer at Shrewsbury school in the 16c www.google.co.uk/books/editio..., specifically the phrase “dark ignorance and heavy sluggishness”. Is this familiar to anyone from elsewhere? One for you @mcculloughp.bsky.social perhaps?
