I've never had a more WTF dream than last night, where my wife and I went to Japan to help a famous director do hybrid stage plays and movie shoots, and it ended with us learning we'd been mistakenly credited as directors on the last one's Academy Awards nomination (with my last name misspelled).

I think the fundamental reason Disney has never “figured out” the Muppets, beyond anything like “they hate joy and laughter,” is that the prime appeal is celebrity guests interacting with the cast, and that means surrendering some level of control they don’t want to.

My only ST take for the anniversary is that Trek was at its best as a show when it was actually living up to its own ideals and being a collaborative work, rather than a top down structure like early TNG, TMP or STV.
