Everything I now about Ultima is third hand, but I think the best case scenario is re-releases and remasters of the existing game. And elsewhere he's definitely talked about how great generative AI is for game development, so....yeah.

Getting a diagnosis might mean more up front costs to support a person in terms of medication, OT, and so on-but you then get a happier, healthier person who can advocate for themselves and take necessary steps to work and live. Sounds like a net positive, even just financially.

To take this out of the thread it's in, it's funny to think about how Gygax was right that it's easier to do a TTRPG that's mostly a short story per adventure than a grand epic like LotR...but he didn't realize what the average player for D&D would be, and maybe didn't want even after it happened.

It definitely seems to be a situation where Gygax wanted mostly pulp stuff like Conan once D&D started taking over from Chainmail, but most of his initial players wanted Tolkien. Then there's the whole Blackmoor situation with Dave Arneson.

It's been fascinating to learn how much stuff we assume D&D took from Tolkien (and it took a lot) and altered, only to realize it actually came from other fantasy fiction, and we just don't recognize the change because those books are much more obscure.

I'm much more willing to watch ATHF than some of the other early Adult Swim shows, but it's also the same joke played out in various forms. Which is fine, but it doesn't excite me like seeing VB move from "haha, Johnny Quest was dumb" to "we must all reckon with the life we have made for ourselves."

My main reason for not watching at the start was not wanting to pay for another streaming service to watch exactly 1 show, when my track record on using the streaming service I already had was abysmal. Later on it became a quality question, but at the start it was just "I won't have time."
