A sign installed to warn the public about damage caused by beavers has been destroyed by the beavers themselves, according to the Polish foresters who erected it.

It's such a tediously small difference as well. Just enough to be annoying but not enough to raise any meaningful revenue.

That sounds like the UK rail system overall, except that TOPS is nearer 60 years old than 30. Obsolete is just a word marketing interns tend to use about any language which existed before them, particularly Cobol, which in reality won't be obsolete for at least another another 30 years yet

For years I couldn't read much at all, and I only really got back into it through non-English stuff I read most historical fiction. Fantasy only really stuff from when I was a kid, though I do read a fair amount of dumb young adult stuff and a bit of general fiction. Can't face literature anymore

What's that you say? You've totally finished the work, but I can't look at it for five hours? And that's because you used the last of your allotted time checking that `echo` still works? Ground-breaking stuff
Screenshot of a conversation with Claude where it claims to have totally finished the work, but doesn't share the output, and then uses the last of its free credits running an "echo" command

Researchers investigating an unusual 17th-century burial in Poland, in which the remains of a teenage girl were found with a padlock on her toe and a sickle across her neck, believe the "anti-vampiric" measures may have been intended to stop her returning from the dead.

I love 7-11 pizza slices and Narvesen Kanelbulle, so no need for fancy coffee. Though personally I'd also go to the library or opera house roof rather than spend time in the station. There's plans afoot to completely redo the 1980s bit, but probably a couple of years before they get started.

I'd say it's fairly normal, and probably more so amongst people who make TV. It seems slightly over-represented on-screen, but I'd guess that's because it's an easy cliche to convey that the character has had a rough day. If it was big alcohol they'd probably be pushing expensive spirits

I was trying to plan a trip Amsterdam Hamburg the other day and I never found this train. Don't know if that's because it's not on bahn.de or because it doesn't actually go to Hamburg, but not knowing about it definitely stopped me from booking it.

It would be best if they just forced operators to provide cross-operator journey guarantees and stranded passenger assistance. Either way you really need a way to access all sane ticketing combinations whether you want to travel quickly, cheaply or fuss-free

The problem isn't with showing everybody's trains, it's with the DB booking engine not being flexible enough to show anything other than the fastest journey. Entur showing all trains and buses in Norway is a good thing, so why wouldn't you want the same elsewhere?

I've seen it every so often around the bottom of Newington. I suspect it happens more at night. It's not optimal, but if you were in a wheelchair then the crap quality of pavement surface is likely to be more of an issue, and it even may act as little speedbumps to put off pavement-cyclists

This allowance is more luggage than I ever travel with. I'm not saying I particularly like the restriction, but if you decline to include the train then it makes your guide less useful. Vy Oslo-Gburg is also bad for luggage, since it's a smallish commuter train can often be standing room only
