To piggyback, our campus didn't have enough space to host the traditional 2L Fall mass On Campus Interview event. Instead we did it at a hotel... in Times Square. The tourists thought there was an undertakers convention at the hotel. The cookies are really good. Interviewing in hotels is weird.

I think we underrate that JCO came up in 20th century New York literary circles where everyone said five most devastating insults before breakfast and as one of the last one standing, her competition is guys who get sad if their chatbot isn't sufficiently nice to them.

1. bushAIdo, is this a thing? 2. What would it take to bring a traditional negligence claim against either AI labs for damage caused during training and testing; or against a principal for the actions of their agent[ic ai]s? Guessing there’s futzing around causation and authority.

My compromise proposal: 1) Man City is either stripped of all titles and they're automatically re-assigned to the runner-ups OR (and hear me out...): 2) Man City gets to keep 2011-2012 and the rest are vacated with no retroactive winners.

Finally: screw PACER fees. I spent over $1000 of my research budget on this project. That’s at $0.10/page - it’ll be $0.12 on Jan. 1. I’m not eligible for the fee exemption for research bc it’s conditioned on not posting the court records you get on the internet and fuck that. @free.law forever.

Stigmatize white collar crime: "In one such dispute, Solow had planned to evict [Bank of America from 9 West 57th St] if one of the bank's former brokers was convicted of securities fraud, under a law that was normally used for evicting drug dealers and prostitutes."

Also funny because there's an entire investment/tax minimizing financial strategy that hinges on you never needing much health care (HSAs (Health Savings Accounts) are the holy grail of tax advantaged accounts, but you can only have one in conjunction with a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).)

Authoritarian regimes' mismanagement of scientific institutions consistently undermines the public interest. The only question here is whether the Supreme Court will extend unitary executive theory to "the president has a right to use NIH tax dollars to punish his enemies". bsky.app/profile/cram...

Vought would sit on his proposed NIH review committee, which requires unanimity. And so a guy that Trump compared to the Grim Reaper would give himself a line-item veto over $48 billion in health spending. Expect the decisions to be good as the totalitarian kitsch in the Kennedy Center.

This is an insane detail in this report on cheating! nymag.com/intelligence...
In the meantime, many schools have turned to surveillance.
Owen, a junior at Princeton
familiar with its Honor Committee, says the school often catches AI cheats by spying on internet use. Students' browsing histories are pulled from the campus network and scanned for recent visits to ChatGPT or Claude. If you whipped out your phone during a quiz, accessing a model on the building's Wi-Fi, you will likely be busted. While every case requires multiple pieces of evidence, and Princeton says it does not pull students' search histories unless they are already under investigation, Owen says the network logs have become critical in proving academic dishonesty. Every case he's been aware of lately has leaned on them.
