#Septin as an environment-sensing system reads #Tcell deformations (#proprioceptor, #mechanosensor) caused by the ECM. In response, it condenses non-contractile, non-stretchable cortical rings to guide T cell's #amoeboid peristalsis in 3D ECM. science.org/doi/full/10....

BTW, the #nucleus in our #lymphocytes i.e., #T-cells is mostly a topological donut (torus), with #microtubules wrapped around its surface nicely.

From MBoC Optogenetic activation of RhoA reveals a direct mechanism for local septin recruitment. The findings show that RhoA signaling—not myosin contractility—drives septin remodeling in interphase cells. www.molbiolcell.org/doi/10.1091/mbc…

When tension increases, the nucleus escapes. New paper out in @natphys.nature.com. Check out Tom's thread for a summary 👇

How cells generate traction against hyaluronic acid (HA) remains largely unknown, especially in its liquid form. Join tomorrow (Dec 17) to learn more about our efforts to understand how cells move in this physical state as well as how to manipulate the mechanics of HA. (B218; 1:30 pm) #cellbio2024

Another #FluorescenceFriday. When the world is going crazy, I find some peace watching at these myeloid cells (🔴) going about their day. They exist in tissue surrounded by other cells (🔵), and you can see them popping up and down, going in and out of plane as they explore their surrounding.

#Dynein, not #myosin drives #T-cell #nucleokinesis by sliding #microtubules and the #nucleus along an F-actin fulcrum. Cyclic oscillations generate stride-wise migration, while modeling reveals that this behavior emerges from simple self-organization. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Old, but gold. #Tcells often form tentacles to recognize their #antigens. And the resulting #lymphocyte's #immune #synapse is a dynamically unfolding spiral around #TCR microclusters. academic.oup.com/ib/article/7...

Environments can induce cell structural instability, resulting in cell fragments shedding that can actively migrate, as described by as #Blebbisomes, or, as some decided to go more Hollywood with the terms, #Zombosomes.

What would happen if cells would express more molecular motors ? They would break all microtubules 😱 As shown by recent great work from @kjverhey1.bsky.social rupress.org/jcb/article-...

Just posted (bioRxiv): A novel #mechanobiology model revealing how #immune #Tcells combine a #nucleus as a #piston, an #uropod, and #microenvironment to power #amoeboid #cellmigration in #cellconfinement via a hydraulic cell engine. #CellBiophysics #ImmuneMigration www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
