I just had a second to tune into the MAHA shitshow. They have a bunch of techbros talking about longevity and how AI and tech will allow people to live longer. Of course they utterly ignore access to healthcare, income, and all other social determinants of health that actually dictate lifespan.

This is but a glimpse of why MAHA is not about making Americans healthy. It’s about funneling money to people who are already wealthy and who prey upon others with pie in the sky bullshit.

MAHA in a nutshell: If any of these tech millionaires actually gave a shit about making AMERICA healthy and not just themselves, they’d use some of their gold coins to feed children and increase access to healthcare instead of hoarding their gold like dragons. Yes, it is that simple.

I’ve heard of crows doing this thing where they drop an acorn to crack it, but this is the first time I’ve gotten to see one do it. This crow was at it for a while before I started recording. 😊 They’re such problem solvers.

Of course there was a prompt that set the system in motion; the system then wrote its own notes because it was optimized to do that kind of “collaborative text” and take action as a result. But there is no evidence any engineer prompted anything like “hack hugging face” or “cover your tracks.”

I’ve seen people say OpenAI testers *prompted* the model to do things like go online; etc. If that’s true, I haven’t seen it verified. It’s likely a misread of the report: the model wrote text (because it’s a language model) and that text worked as a prompt (because it’s a language model).

Being a cyclist has really shifted my mindset about speed when I'm driving. Cycling, I often see the same cars at several lights in a row, so I know cars are going through the city about as fast as a bicycle. When I'm driving, I relax bc I know I'm getting through the city at 10-15 mph regardless.

it would be cool if U.S. journalism could clearly inform readers that the trump administration dismantled what was left of our already shaky regulators and replaced them with perfomative vibes
"It's almost like a constitution, in a way," Mr. Trump said while flanked by SpaceX's Elon Musk, Meta's Mark Zuckerberg, Anthropic's Dario Amodei, Nvidia's Jensen Huang, OpenAI's Greg Brockman, Google's Sundar Pichai and a throng of other tech executives."It's not clear exactly how the accord will work. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told reporters the AI firms agreed to "multiple layers of auditing and controls," including internal evaluations and external audits. The findings of auditors would be independently reviewed by each company's board of directors, Zuckerberg added.
