Sadly the only dr who has not been a total dick through this process has said she doesn't need to see me any more so now it's just asshole central all the time. Sigh.

I understand Dr's deal w a lot of people who claim to do "research" and then cite some wellness influencer bs. But like...I've spent literally hundreds of hours reading journal articles and case studies and one dr is like "you're so informed it's awesome!" And the other is like "u r clearly a moron"

The 2 specialists for my autoimmune issues are having a territorial pissing match...so I have to go get a blood test to prove my thyroid levels are low, even tho my resting heart rate is currently 45, I keep crying for no reason and my hair is falling out in clumps 🫠 so that's how my day is going.

The worst! I've had the occasional gallbladder grumbles for ages, but nothing like last night. I got a referral to talk to a surgeon (also iv pain and nausea meds so that helped!)

I did get to be a lab rat this morning for student doctors to practice finding gallstones on ultrasound. It was equal parts mortifying and kinda cute how pleased they looked when they found one, like a really gross Easter egg hunt.

I'm reading What My Bones Know, Stephanie Foo's biography about healing from complex trauma and it's both suuuuper sad and incredibly comforting bc cptsd has a way of making you feel like you're uniquely broken and it's nice to know other people have been there, and have gotten better.

This song is on the 4AD collective album This Mortal Coil, but it's Cocteau Twins performing it. Apparently David Lynch loved it but couldn't afford the licensing for Blue Velvet, so he got Julee Cruise to write something "similar" and that was Mysteries of Love.

So brave! He was found as a stray as a pup and clearly has some weather-related trauma. But he lives a life of luxury now, even has a basement to hide in if the storm is too loud for the mane to be effective 😂

This is my nephew... he's 110lbs but shakes like a Chihuahua when thunder or fireworks. my sister has discovered that his Halloween costume helps muffle the sound so every time there's a thunderstorm, Mr. B is a lion for a while.

Japanese tree lilacs are the best smell in the world. And it's a smell that's incredibly hard to capture in perfume, bc lilacs have low quantities of essential oils, so traditional distillation techniques don't work. Enfleurage is the only way to do it, which is hella labour intensive and expensive.

I hate it so much. I'm not leaving my house til Tuesday in protest.
