The cluelessness of this reminds me a lot of the NFT grift. The thing about NFTs was that it was mainly something finance bros were into, and when they were trying to worm their way into gaming, their pitches were an abyssal trench of bad ideas because they couldn't grasp why people played games.

I haven't played Prime 3 or 4 but I felt like at least in 2 you had the optional super weapons that use charge beam + missile ammo to shoot (plus a few enemies with missile-only armor). I like that dread makes missiles feel very important but I do miss using my beam for... anything really

the only real complaint I have with dread so far is this feels like the most beamless metroid game I've ever played. dread is the fuckin Missile Show, it feels like if you're using the beam for combat you're likely in dire straights
