Everyone's rightfully posting the "gay sophisticate" Daffy comic panel, but I personally think this one takes the cake
A comic panel of Daffy Duck bugging a visibly annoyed Bugs Bunny.

Daffy: Teach me how to be a gay irresponsible rabbit like you... will ya, huh? Will ya?

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Richard “Levelord” Gray. From his legendary work on Duke Nukem 3D to the countless players and developers he inspired, Richard leaves behind a lasting legacy. Rest in peace, Levelord.

The first one is so absurd but I have seen being thrown around as the reason for why xyz ps2 game didn't make it during their PS4 BC attempts. Why make it a requirement to games that didn't have it when it needs a non-zero amount of effort and testing without adding much?

while I'm still working through my elevator action hardest 1-all, I decided to take a look back at this particular oddity. in 2007, a small taito affiliate released a low-budget Wii fps that ostensibly was meant to be an elevator action game... it wears out its welcome, but it's cute! link below:
first paragraph: The premise of this strange title from a group of Taito-affiliate developers is a spiritual successor to Elevator Action that didn’t quite make the cut; after developing a slew of DS Taito sequels in the years prior, Spy Games: Elevator Mission got published by shovelware purveyors UFO Interactive.1 However, the outcome is focused from back-to-front thanks to a limited, setpiece-less structure. It’s a rare post-fifth generation first-person shooter in the Metroid Prime / Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D mold: hybrid tank controls with a strafe button, back-turns, and infrared aiming. Turning while moving is smooth, and much like the original Elevator Action, bullets are dodgeable thanks to a relatively slow shot speed. Each hallway forms a small light-gun challenge thanks to random spawns from doors on either side, featuring enemies in the classic standing/crouching positions. Compared to progressing in a 2D plane, where slow bullets still command an uncomfortable amount of real estate on screen, the ease of juking bullets here makes this title less of a grand reinvention of the elder arcade ideals and more a cute, unseasoned experience for tank controls enjoyers. The two-hour time commitment for a run solidifies its spot in the latter camp.

People are focusing on what Cena said and he was always a company man but most wrestlers, no matter their moral compass or way of living, always praise Vince no matter if he did things they are personally against Crazy cult of personality he has considering his "mentorship" always sounds deranged.

And even things like Trepang2 which has the presentation of a 7th gen game based its design more on stuff like first FEAR and Crysis than it did COD, putting into question if creators even care for the design tropes of that era.

Isaka @suirenko.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
There have been attempts at making more 7th gen-y experiences but I think the production realities of such effort means there's barely any indie proving grounds to show if enough people actually care for that era's tropes or not.

a late one for you tonight... monkey ball is one of the most elegantly designed precision arcade games ever made, a game that takes a design staff primed on racers and lets them create economic geometry puzzles, only building towards alien grandeur in their structures at the end. link below!
first few paragraphs: Sega was the master of exaggerated, nuanced physics engines, and Monkey Ball fits that mold to a T. There’s three stylistic inaccuracies that sew Monkey Ball’s unique physics together:

Friction is present as a constant inhibiting force, but in a sense this helps hold the monkey on downward slopes. This gives Monkey Ball a “sticky” quality.

Collisions can and often do pop the monkey up in the air, where speed is uncapped. This, and the fact that the collisions seem relatively elastic,1 make collisions actually a boon for gaining speed rather than a total obstacle.

It’s a common misconception that Monkey Ball has the player control the tilt of the stage, letting the monkey freely roll throughout it. Instead, the player is actually controlling the direction of gravity, offering very similar effects to stage-tilting while also providing essential air control to the monkey.

The three of these combined make Monkey Ball an intuitive, forgiving engine that encourages aggressive play.2 Speed gains are always at the player’s fingertips and rely heavily on environmental awareness. With that intrinsic concentration in the engine, the stage design can then follow suit. Monkey Ball’s stages are focused and brief; many stages have a max time limit of only 30 seconds, intend for you to beat them in less than half of that, and have a theoretical lower bound of only a couple seconds. While the stages are static and encourage memorization, the short length and nuanced physics put the micro-movements front-and-center in comparison to broader routing, and this creates its own form of complexity-oriented dynamism for those who can’t memorize frame-perfect input strings.

Isaka @suirenko.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
I thought it was going to be all climbing scenarios but there was a good amount of combat scenarios that really pushed encounter design in interesting ways, Verse 2's encounters especially were as creative as they were brutal.

The anxiety that causes and the results it provides, be it your fears becoming true, holding on to your loot for a little longer or give in to the temptation of ruining someone's day and possibly regretting it later is what creates memories.

The fear of losing everything and the social interactions that will bring, be it players working together for survival, stabbing people in the back or specifically target weaker player to grief, etc

Marathon is a good example cause you can see a repeat of UO where there's a lot of people complaining about losing the stuff they spent so much time getting even tho that's the appeal of extraction shooters.

So sadly it wasn't a type of MMO that managed to be explored (outside of a few outliers like EVE online) cause it was already seen as hostile and hard to get into for a lot of players It's funny SP/co-op centric games like Project Zomboid seem to follow in Ultima Online's footsteps rather than MMOs
110
Isaka @suirenko.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Ever Quest was already an experience that valued authored content over world reactivity and even added the obvious things that players that didn't get what Ultima Online was going for wanted to be added to that game (like disabling player killing)

Isaka @suirenko.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
It's funny how much earlier than WoW that shift happened, even if it was that game that made every single MMO afterwards follow in its footsteps.
110
Isaka @suirenko.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
This type of emergent interactions is something most MMOs could only ever dream of but never be able to do and it's all thanks to its sandbox design and complex simulation allowing for players to abuse it and for other players to find ways to counter it. MMO evolved backwards.

The game allowing players to get a house and place it in every flat surface resulted in people building theirs close to each other. Streets became Towns and then became huge Cities that could rival premade ones with their own democracy, customs, culture, alliances and way to solve problems.
