Entertaining seawatch as the wind hit NW off Coastguards this PM. For a while it was quite lively, bu tailed off post 1630. Sooty Shears are always smart, one reasonably close, ditto some Manx. Best, the ranks of Brents passing by. Welcome home 🙂 @linnetincley.bsky.social #cleybirds #norfolkbirding

Yet another American wader in Cornwall. Today’s special is the 8th record of Upland Sandpiper. Found by Raoul Humphries in the Chun Downs area (nr Pendeen). The distinctive flight call was heard several times. This is also the 7th Nearctic wader this Autumn.

Great first day in Isles of #Scilly Scillonian sea watching was fun: close pods of dolphin & porpoise, year tick Stormies & Grey phalaropes. Headed straight for distant views of lifer, Sora. Went back for more after picking up hire bikes, my first cycling in 7 years. Both were a blast #UKBirding

Four hours spent on the seawall at Severn Beach with @oscardewhurst.bsky.social failed to produce a single seabird in a fresh south westerly. By way of compensation, a juvenile Yellow-legged Gull performed close in to shore. Here's one from this time last year #ukbirding #avonbirding

Imagine seeing 106 of these beauties so far north!! (my pic from Madeira 2018). The old Estaca record was 10, the new one 10x as many! Also occurence there a fairly recent phenomenon, last few years. Cornwall watch out in July early August!
