It's telling that men would rather try to invent tech to replace humans' role in caregiving than step up as equal partners in parenting. Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.

Me: I can just play an audiobook from my phone.
My wife: But then it won't be in your voice.
Me: I can train a voice model.

So telling creatives what to do might be helpfully read as an also patriarchal practice with the replacement of AI as the logical peak: quality sucks, but the user can fully dominate, has not to pay (or only a really minimal amount), and is being told how amazing they and “their” creation are… (3/3)

Sandra Timmermann @stmrmn.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
But then I remembered that the quality of suggestions being made were often on precisely that level of quality… I guess the lack of appreciation of such creative work also follows from the fact that it is still rather seen as a feminine-coded type of labor (though often men do the work, too). (2/3)

As a trained communication designer who worked in advertising agencies and self-employed, I first thought that this clashes so much with the nitpickyness by clients (especially small/medium sized businesses) I experienced which then often culminated in attempts to avoid paying for the project.
