Pretty clear to me there’s a very good case against this man for mass murder, and I’m saying that in as measured a fashion as I can. He’s order the killing of 234 people under no plausible war or legal justification. I am skeptical he will ever face legal accountability for til his but he should.

This goes for everyone on both sides who are mad. All Jewish-Americans are worthy of protection and safety. We are neither responsible for nor beholden to Israel and it is anti-Semitic to say otherwise. A lot of pro-Israel organizations are proving that they disagree.

Suspending the gas tax just lets the gas companies jack up prices more while future taxpayers pick up the tab. I get that @massgovernor.bsky.social is trying to win an election and is worried about the money being spent against her, but is still disappointing to see her go in on that slopulism.

There is a moment at the very very end of Abdul El-Sayed's podcast with Ezra Klein (book recommendation section) where he talks about the idea of "speaking truth to pain" and this will be staying with me for an extremely long time. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/25/o...
But there’s also something about truth to pain. We talk a lot about truth to power, but I think it’s actually a lot harder to speak truth to pain. I say that as someone who went to medical school, realizing that in a lot of our politics right now, we’ve got to get a lot better at speaking truth to pain if we’re going to get through some of these challenges that we have.

What does “truth to pain” mean?

It’s one thing to look power in the eye and say: You’re wrong about this. But there’s a way in which pain is very difficult to reason with. Because when somebody is in their pain, they’re in their trauma. They see that pain, and they may not see what’s causing it.

I remember just very explicitly being in a trauma ward with a gunshot wound patient and watching this big guy with his hand on his gunshot wound. All the folks are trying to pull his hand off his pain, that point of his gunshot wound, this clear vulnerability.

And this emergency room doctor had the presence of mind to be like: Everyone, stop. And she looks him in the eyes, and she’s like: I get that really hurts, and I’m so sorry that you’re here. You don’t want to be here. We don’t want you to be here. But if you don’t let us fix this, you could die. So I’m going to take your hand, and I’m going to move it off, OK? Because I need to get there so that you can live.

She was speaking truth to pain. He understands he’s at the hospital, he needs care, but he also doesn’t want anybody to touch the wound. Which is a natural thing. And I think it is a really great metaphor for how we think about a lot of these challenges we talked about today.

I know people are reluctant to accept yet another change to what we call LLMs. But I still think “slop machine” is a better description, and will lead people to use these tools only where they are appropriate.

When oppression is taken personally and we accept the dehumanization, it can support genocidal superiority. The idea that we aren’t human the same way all other humans are human is always evil, whether it is justifying our oppression or theirs.

This is the wildest part about Republicans coming after the masking bar. Christian religious rules got turned into law & are killing people. Their churches are full of sexual abuse & way worse drama than this. They seem mostly shocked that there could be a religion that doesn’t serve capitalism.

Republicans obviously aren’t offended by bullying lesbians. So why are conservatives obsessed? A. This is unnatural bullying. When we create power outside capitalism, poor people can bully people too & that disrupts the social order. B. Leftists will agree with us that these leftist are bad!

Rogers says he built Chrysler vehicles on an assembly line. Records show his work was at an aftermarket facility that modified vehicles after they left the factory.

This is a great example of the anthropomorphism. These systems are behaving the way they were programmed to behave. Thus the “again” part. OpenAI wants to be allowed to sell buggy-as-fuck software without accepting liability. AI tools should be held to strict liability instead.

As a software engineer, that non-software engineers think this is true is exactly why using anthropomorphic language is bad. You don’t understand what happened in the HuggingFace hack. If you think you do, it is a problem.

One thing I wish Anthropic had published is how many agents they were running on these given tasks. If 1,000 of 1,000 agents showed these bugs that is very different than 1,000 of 200,000. A hundred million monkeys will eventually hack HuggingFace.
