Ah yes, perhaps the most beloved literary trope of all: the classic McMuffin
A screenshot that reads: Moore throws in a Hitchcock-style McMuffin in the shape of a secret tape recording which will reveal just who has been betraying the gangsters.
The problem is that no-one has a machine on which to play it.

But Polanski was claiming that they don't have a vote because of the racism of Israel; i'm sure you can now see how that is just wrong

if you cared to educate yourself, you would know that the fact they haven't had any elections since is entirely the fault of the guys they elected back then

re "Zionism is racism" - it's a cornerstone of British equality law that discrimination need not be intentional for it to be discriminatory I'm not making *legal* claims about the Green Party motion - but a policy that would render the vast majority of Jews as personae non gratae is flatly racist

This is quite cool. My university is the first organisation in the world to force Microsoft to allow us to turn off copilot summaries in Word 365, after a backlash against it from staff (including, very vocally, me). That cannot have been easy for our heroic IT people so hats very much off to them!

Hat tip to @emexastris.bsky.social for pointing this out, but if you notice, the two people whose knowledge Huang appeals to are, y'know, 1) people and 2) of course women. One is his wife (Lori = Lori Huang) and the other ('Janine') is, I think, Janine Paul who I *think* is his personal assistant?

The people who work in AI are not gurus and most of their predictions have been wrong. Working in the industry makes them less reliable commentators, not more

Apparently in China, they have a system which measures your labour input and social position and then determines what kind of house you can live in, what education your kids experience and even whether you can get on a plane or not. It's called "money".

you don't any more see as much outright global-warming denialism or evolution denialism, because they were energetically engaged with and refuted in the public sphere in the last few decades; so perhaps we just need a new wave of genetics explainers (following Adam Rutherford et al)?
