It stands out a mile doesn't it? Nevertheless, given the general state of right-politics at the moment, this is still welcome thing for me.

As Paddington leads Jeffery Archer into the great beyond, Archer excitedly explains how he's had a brilliant idea for a story about a Peruvian bear with a fondness for orange preserve sandwiches.

It's an example of a high-ranked international team getting thrashed, a match England were given little prospect of winning beforehand, so very much in reply to the OP. Most football matches mean nothing in the great scheme of things - they are to be enjoyed or suffered for what they are.

England winning 5-1 in Munich is right up there, although not on the level of that semi final.

Fairly 'on brand' for Redknapp not to want to look too hard at cases of financial chicanery though.

Yep, but it can still be funny too. There's also a scenario in that which costs Wolves £40m if City get heavily punished.

How much does Man City owe your club? • Pick their punishment. • Rewrite 18 Premier League seasons without them. • Hand their trophies to the teams they beat. • Add up the bill. passmode.shop/asterisk

asterisk — the Premier League without Manchester City
Set Manchester City's punishment and watch 18 Premier League seasons rewrite themselves: new champions, cup winners, European places and relegations.

I think once black clad men are interfering with rescues at sea, we are past "legitimate concerns". Once they're attacking boats, and risking the lives of everyone on board, it's just thuggery. The Home Secretary's statement is on the side of criminals. There's no other way to read it.

In the office we currently have Ed Davey's conference speech on BBC News on one TV and Trump's UN one on another. It's very disconcerting every time I look up at the former.

Cartoon by Stephen Collins for The Guardian. Script as follows:

The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us.

2

Hitler knows that he will have to break us in this Island or lose the war.

If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free
and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sun-

CHURCHILL:
Hang on

7
HITLER:
Let me finish - what we are proposing eez a simple power-sharing arrangement -

8
CHURCHILL:
What's he doing here

BBC PRESENTER:
It's important we hear both sides of the debate

9
CHURCHILL:
This isn't a debate
You don't debate fascists

10
HITLER:
Oh here we go with ze Godwins law!

11
HITLER:
Why must you people always compare ze things you don't like to 'fascists, Nazis, Hitler'...

CHURCHILL:
Because you are a fascist Nazi Hit-

12
HITLER [standing up, saluting]:

Remains to be seen how well we’ve spent that, but such is the disparity that promoted clubs probably have to spend £100m+ to even compete Fewer players to sell for significant fees too.

Yes, quite different. We were never in that game at the Etihad but were for 35 mins Sunday. The failure to take the warning from the last 10 mins of the second half into the second was a big concern though, that collapse as bad as anything two seasons ago - those stats are bad.

Have you read King of Kings on the fall of the Shah Iranian Revolutions? It’s excellent. I just finished V13, an account of the trial of the surviving perpetrators of the Paris attacks in 2015. It’s horrific and compelling in equal measure - not quite sure that’s a recommendation though.
