Live your life so that, when you die, social media isn't flooded with comments about what a nasty vicious lying piece of shit you were. Sound advice, I think. Jeffrey Archer should've taken it.

Catching up here. (#Novelmber) 3) Not a lot, but a story idea hit me between the eyes on Saturday night, so now I'm thinking it through. 4) This one, probably 3rd person, multiple POV.

Note to British millionaires and billionaires not wishing to pay tax: You are not self-made men or women. You are products of the environment you and your parents grew up in. The myth of the "self-made" tycoon is one of the most toxic fictions in modern Britain 🧵

In addition to some sensible things, the RNLI merch included a replacement for the world's crappest lightsabre, which went missing after an Eleven Month Group meeting more than twenty years ago.
Me (a fat bloke with glasses, wearing a green jumper) standing in a terribly heroic pose while holding a small LED glowstick in both hands as if it were a lightsabre. The glowstick, green in this image, changes colour, but you can't see that in this still picture. You also can't hear me making VRRRM WHSSHHH lightsabre noises.

Heh. I just frustrated a postman. Heard the knock, got to the door *before* he'd finished shoving the "sorry we missed you" card through the letterbox. (He was delivering my order of RNLI merch, so I'm happy.)

Does my Speak-n-Spell feel pain when I type O-U-C-H? The jury is out. Philosophers and neuroscientists say that's fucking stupid, but I called a guy from the Center for Pretending that Household Electronics Are Sentient and he said there's no way to know for sure.

On "Rogue AI" I turn to my faithful robot butler. "Jeevz," I say, "run straight down to the shops and get me a packet of mints." Jeevz, like all robot butlers, has a titanium reinforced chassis and a top speed of 515 km/h. He punches his way straight through the front wall....

Bluesky trending stealing a page from UK media's love of misleading headlines. 'RNLI migrant backlash' It's really about RNLI rescuers being in danger from Nazi Tommy Robinson's crew of thugs.

The RNLI is a prime example of the underlying moral belief in all lives are sacred. This principle is now being eroded through anti migrant propaganda etc. If no ethical line is upheld by all parties in power and racism not challenged we will be a much weakened country.

RNLI staff have faced "unacceptable" online & physical abuse since anti-migrant protests. "Deliberate misinformation and a misunderstanding" by thugs hiding behind "balaclava or a keyboard". Solidarity with RNLI volunteers. They do a great job in saving lives, must be respected.

Yesterday was a very bad day. Family issues, so details will not be provided. And then I woke up this morning to find a large house spider crawling up my chest. So, if anyone has consoling images, say of kittens playing, or Elon Musk drowning in a septic tank... well, they'd be appreciated.

Allowing third parties to interfere in the doctor-patient relationship and deny trans people medical procedures opens up everyone's rights to opt or not for treatment to ideological challenge. History shows allowing erasure of rights for one group soon sees others targeted. It isn't a 'them' issue.

I've been reading a lot of the sayings of the Desert Fathers recently, collections of quotes and parables from monks who lived in the Egyptian Desert from around 270ad. And there's a lot to be learned from them, but if I may, I'd like to paraphrase one which I think bluesky really needs to hear...

Last and First Men? Probably over-ambitious. Asimov's Foundation setting might be good for Traveller-style SF adventuring... you would have to plan your adventures so they were resolved off-stage by social and economic changes, of course. Or the obvious one: Blake's Seven!

Thing is, when the Supreme Ruler and President for Life of Bampotania objects to Amnesty reporting on his abuses of human rights, Amnesty knows full well that any suit for defamation he brings will be tossed out by the courts at the earliest possible moment.
