Just finished The Angel of Indian Lake by @stephengrahamjones.com. Best of the trilogy IMO. I like how much it brings Jade Daniels full circle and it doesn’t give easy answers and it’s messy and confusing but that’s life.

(It's not #BannedBooksWeek yet, but I've already got a display (out of reach) because these are books that have been deemed too mature for my high school classroom library. I'm not giving up on them yet, but they'll be there as a reminder along the way. @stephengrahamjones.com )
A display of eight graphic novels (Go with the Flow by Karen Schneemann; How to Love by Alex Norris; Juliet Takes a Breath by Gabby Rivera; Let's Talk about It: The Teen's Guide to Sex, Relationships, and Being a Human by Erika Moen; The Low, Low Woods by Carmen Maria Machado; Other Ever Afters: New Queer Fairy Tales by Melanie Gillman; This One Summer by Mariko Tamaki; and Welcome to St. Hell: My Trans Teen Misadventure by Lewis Hancox) and a hard cover copy of The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones on top of a cabinet (near the ceiling) with novelty caution tape draped in front of them. A "Currently Reading" poster next to a classroom door says the teacher is currently reading The Low, Low Woods by Carmen Maria Machado. There's a brief description beneath it and some kitschy graphics (I found the template online).

--thinking happens IN the writing. maybe not for all, but it's the only way I know. or: I'm not articulate, don't think well on my feet. put a pen in my hand, though, and I can maybe do something. also, I of course don't think writing is just the "archiving" of thoughts/knowledge. it DOES stuff.

yeah . . . don't agree. I get what he's saying (though of course, advocating the use of AI is a bit far, for me), but, A) the "conversation" he's talking about, isn't that why journals and reviews and articles exist, to "speak" with the profession, and, B) I do agree with James Britton, that the--

hm. got, you know . . . SUSPICIONS I might not agree with this? but, it's in/an "Opinion"; conversation's what it's supposed to start. I do appreciate using writing to say how writing isn't important, of course—hopefully the article has fun with that as well. Soon to read, here.
an article from the NYT titled "Opinion: I'm a College Professor. Writing Isn't As Important as We Think."

Ha, hilarious. And: who cares. More important is that people read these stories. I think, in eastern time, it’s about an hour from going live? Plenty of time to break into the bookstore (and leave money on the counter for the book) (and the window) (and a tip?).

I don’t have the photo know-how to capture the shininess of the skull—foil, gloss? Don’t know the terms. But? The teeth have contour, somehow. And the orange on the edge and sides is beautiful. Can’t wait for y’all to see it, hold it.
Cloth/hardcover Off the Reservation: the title in mouth of a deer skull. Sprayed-orange page edges. Very cool looking book.
