It does not equate to the same legal concept we use in common law jurisdictions. (I've already noticed several law firm updates neglect to clarify this point, which is vital). 000

Only years later did I really get the idea (after years of reading appellant case law). Today, I still cannot find a better explanation of what we do as lawyers in precedent based systems.
