Must have been the new bikeway that caused this.

Crossing the street to meet my kids at the bus stop, a driver rolled a stop sign and nearly hit me. Another rolled through it. I said, “That’s a stop sign.” He backed up and asked what I said. I told him, “You rolled it like it wasn’t even there.” “That’s right. Fuck you,” he replied, and drove off.

Hi, do you bike with kids on a cargo/family bike in the winter? I’d love to update my winter bike clothing guide to mention this but don’t have kids, so I’m soliciting help! Please let me know if you’d be willing to provide some perspective/experience and I’m happy to credit you on the guide.

I’m super pumped for Hennepin to finally have dedicated space for both delivery drivers and bicyclists on this block, and for the bikeway gap along Lake Street to finally be closed. This is going to be such a huge improvement!

We successfully completed Eggbert’s first bike ride around the block.

Since the city won't put a real bollard there, even after they add curbs. We probably should grab a traffic delineator and put it in the middle like on Blaisdell. I'll see if I can snag one to put there next Sunday.

Not yet, but there will be. They recently switched to reconstructing the south half of the street. You can see the layout that is west of Lyndale Ave will continue east to Chicago Ave. www.hennepincounty.gov/services/roa...
An overhead satellite view of the Franklin and Lyndale intersection. East of Lyndale Franklin has narrow sidewalks that butt up against a four lane stroad. West of Lyndale Franklin two lanes for cars, wider sidewalks, separate bike lanes, a boulevard, and nicer bus stops.

The new separated bike lane on westbound Franklin is open between Blaisdell and Lyndale! 🚲
A newly opened bike lane along Franklin Avenue, separated from vehicle traffic by what will become a planted boulevard and from the sidewalk by a metal tactile delineator strip. Construction continues on the south side of the street.

The bike lot on Como at the MN State Fair at around 5PM was pretty full, but there were some spots available on the racks. Im guessing it was more full earlier. The staff onsite made it easy. This is the easiest way to park at the fair by far. But they definitely need more bike parking!

In that liminal space between sleep and awake this morning I had a revelation that what Minneapolis needs for downtown is a beautiful, airy city-owned indoor public market with low cost rent for local food and creative businesses. Honestly v weird to me that we don't already have one.

Beautiful morning for a ride, with what should be a beautiful view of Loring Park. Instead, the view is mostly parked cars.
Taking a morning selfie from the outdoor patio at Dunn Brothers next to Loring Park in Minneapolis. A red and blue cargo bike and green scooter are parked nearby. Across the street, a row of parked cars blocks much of the view of the green, tree-filled park.

Every day we still haven't attached auto enforcement cameras to busses is a dramatic policy failure. It is also a clear example of who is and is not a priority for elected leaders.

minneapolis, check out samatar crossing! cedar riverside is such an isolated neighborhood, geographically, with freeways on two sides and river on the other so this path is so crucial for a safe way to walk or bike between that area and downtown. it’s a repurposed old interstate highway ramp

If you ever find yourself on a new street that works really well for people not in cars, you might assume it's bc it just made sense to build it that way. But I assure you there's a handful of heroes who spent a few years getting punched in the head every day by people who wanted the street to suck.
