The fridge lives! Well, its zombie-like corpse is at least shuffling along in the appropriate temperature zone this morning. We had to reset it again before bed, and cleaned the coils again, but now it seems to be alive? Hopefully at least until we can find a replacement. 🤞🏻

During their time in Corche and through years of intermittent encounters at headquarters, she’d never seen him in anything but a suit. The sight of him kneeling on her floor in jeans and threadbare white cotton—barefoot, pushing a rag through the spilled water—made her feel like her delirium had come back. A little tuft of dark chest hair was visible at the V of his neckline. Her poor, defeated body couldn’t drum up anything like lust, but he looked so beautiful and alive and healthy. Her envy was so strong it was a physical pull. Only her fear was stronger.

“You should leave,” she said again. “I’m still contagious.”
