Over on the other site, folks seem to be realizing Brandon Flowers cut an absolute banger country song (and album) that puts to shame nearly all of what Nashville has produced as “country” over the past two decades youtu.be/_zIpmeCr3cM?...

Producing a dozen breathless videos about Nintendo charging $80 for Mario Kart seeming a bit silly now that Sony has announced its ambitious crossover with the Verifone MX925 Multilane Consumer Facing Terminal™

ancestry research is fun but also sometimes sad. one of my my great grandfathers died at 22 years old in a freak accident on the docks. his headstone is a two person headstone but it's just been him on there since 1941. just a kid, highly unlikely he's had any visitors since at least the 80s.

TPing a house is like the least bad vandalism - as close to good clean fun as it gets really. it just blows away or melts in the rain, truly doesn't matter. if someone TP'd my house I'd be confused and delighted. 1950s leave-it-to-beaver ass shenanigans behavior.

"asking as a point of information and not a veiled criticism but why are you doing it that way?" "thank you so much for this gift i really love it. i also understand that my tone doesn't really change so yes i truly mean it i am actually unironically touched by this i just sound like this"

the opening of Infinite Jest where Hal is in the college admissions meeting and thinks he is speaking normally and coherently but the other people in the room hear it as horrifying guttural noises is an extreme version of what conversations can often be like and so i overexplain and anticipate

and by funny i do mean funny but i also mean vaguely heartbreaking and part of what i am realizing is a lifelong struggle to feel seen and understood

the funniest part about my audhd diagnosis is that the psychiatrist was like "yeah your adhd is kind of borderline" and i was like "oh so was the autism also sort of a closer call?" and she was like "oh no that was very clear" meanwhile people i know irl are like "idk about that, man"

also if you're a big fan of a certain artist you really owe it to yourself to get there early and stand in line all day and see a show from up front it may spoil you for more distant seats in the future but there's something to jamming out to your favorite music w the person who made it right there

Based Sonic the Hedgehog @sonic.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

i hope that everybody gets the experience of driving from state to state to follow their favorite artist's tour for a few shows. it is hard to explain the little community of lovable but likely mentally ill (said in a complimentary way) super fans you become friends with, but it's really so nice.

one of the worst things about the proliferation of llms is that longform writing on the internet is basically dead. just a few years in, almost everything longer than a paragraph is AI slop

That's not a one sentence paragraph, it's a revelation - and you're right to call that out.

concerts are funny because it's like people making noise and yelling to a crowd of people who are really excited about it jumping around and shit

chris hansen has been a strong net-positive in the world and i am deeply skeptical of this recent push to re-contextualize him in a negative light

getting rushed at the mystery box by peter oberacker's dead nazi grandpa

Peter Oberacker post that says "I debated on whether to post this picture, my grandfather ludwig oberacker who gave his life for his country. i salute all who served." where the photo of oberacker's nazi grandpa is replaced with a nazi from call of duty zombies

lots of people who only know Mr Brightside not aware that The Killers are an Americana band in the vein of Springsteen more than anything else, so this pivot isn't even that much of a pivot at all

don't get me wrong, i get that i'm not going to agree with everyone's opinions, but calling an album a bandwagon hop when you're like, demonstrably incorrect is just kind of piss-poor journalism @grantsharpies.bsky.social

insane, ignorant statement to make: on brandon flowers' flamingo: - hard enough - playing with fire - was it something i said - the clock was tickin - jacksonville - on the floor 2.0 on battle born: - heart of a girl - from here on out on the desired effect: - diggin up the heart

guy said: "It doesn't help that he has suddenly assumed the stereotypical country-singer dialect, complete with the twangiest drawl. It's an affectation that has never emerged in the Killers' hefty discography, and its abrupt appearance here feels a tad too convenient."

implying brandon flowers is doing country music to follow a trend is so lazy it's wild. brandon's country interest has been clear and a country pivot has been expected by fans for years. i mean his debut solo album flamingo features dolly parton ffs www.pastemagazine.com/music/brando...
