I believe fraternity hazing and military hazing and sports team hazing where men abuse each other is acclimating them into a broader culture of abuse where they will then believe it is their right to abuse other more vulnerable people. It’s so insidious. And that’s also why I think men defend it

A truly heinous man has doxxed the Cornell victim on X and the comments are predictably vile. Based on countless interviews I’ve done with survivors, the trauma they are subjected to for coming forward is oftentimes even worse than the initial trauma they experienced. There is no real justice system

shutting down frat houses won't end rape culture, but it will disorganize a lot of rapists, and i think that's probably worth doing if only to destabilize what is apparently an ecology of organizations that functionally exist to rape women per the whole "purpose of a system is what it does" insight.

Kat is right about all of this. One of the reasons that college sexual violence is uniquely devastating is because it changes the victim’s entire future.

Nearly 40% of survivors who report to their schools are pushed out in one way or another—usually, at the urging of school staff who want them to leave. (In comparison, less than 1% of perpetrators are suspended or expelled.)

To my fellow writers and media folk, I address this to you. Here’s what’s not controversial: Existing as a person and their inclusion in a project.

People being upset about someone because of who they are - belonging to a marginalised community, for example - means that person is being targeted not about what they’ve done but who they are.

That is how fascists operate: Look at apartheid systems, look at Nazis.

That does not warrant your attention, my fellow writer. Fascists being mad at someone existing is what fascists do. You do not need to be the stenographer of their bigotry.
