Full disclosure: my story "The Pilgrimage of the Meatclay: an Ascent" is featured in this book.

Ben Walker of Sliced Up Press has done an amazing job with this anthology centred on the theme of Saturday morning TV shows. It's a powerful collection of prose and poetry that leans heavily into dark re-imaginings, although there are some great humorous stories too (which are, to be fair, also pretty dark).

I think everyone's favourites will differ (it's a very strong group of stories, with not a single dud), and I'm limiting myself here to 6:

Oh, and the scrubbed-out address label on the cover artwork addressed to M. Whitehouse with ACCOUNT UNPAID written on it is a very nice touch.

I found a concept sketch I doodled when I was dreaming up the Saturday Mourning Television anthology a few years back. No idea why I chose to write the word "TV" on the terrified kid's shirt there.

A terrified child with the word "TV" inexplicably printed on their shirt flees from a bizarre monster bursting from their TV screen - the monster has arms for legs and legs for arms, and an 8-eyed sort of triangular head, mouth dripping as it bears down on its victim.

There's also a brilliant gag label in the bottom right corner that reads "Ship to: M. Whitehouse, 13 Pebble Mill, London" which has been crossed through and the words "ACCOUNT UNPAID" written next to the address. Mary Whitehouse, for anyone who doesn't know, was an ultra-conservative and highly influential campaigner against anything she deemed immoral in TV and film in the 70s and 80s... which was pretty much everything.
