In light of the news that the devs of D&D: Warlock aren't including waypoints, here's my hot take as a disabled gamer: Waypoints in games should be viewed as an accessibility feature. Imo it should be a toggle function instead of actually being removed from the game.

The long term wards like organ replacement need books for the patients and for the daily family visitors. Also geriatric wards - coffee table books with lots of pictures helped me have conversations with my father who had memory issues.

Btw your local hospital and mental health facility is probably in dire need of book donations. I just donated ~20 modern books to a local hospital and they were SO happy. Patients LOVE books but these libraries are often dependent on community donations and often don't have modern selections.

got a new psych np and she was SOOO nice :) I'm getting medicated for my ADHD for the first time in nearly 11 years since my last meds, and she didn't make me feel stupid at all. She included me in the decisions and I loved that.

fascinating phenomenon: when I generally interact with doctors offices on my own, the women receptionists are generally kind to me. However, my husband and I go to the same dentist and he helps me set up some of my doctors appointments, and this is where it gets weird.

it also insures that more able bodied healthcare providers hold this belief. and it's why we see it so often in medical practices: disabled patients are lazy, drug seeking, whiny, ask for too much, aren't doing enough to help themselves. all from the core idea that disabled people should be shamed.

I went to my health sciences program orientation today and the only mention of disability or resources for students with disability was within the context of "don't use too many accommodations because it will prevent you from practicing your skills"
