Very much here for Jon waking up and choosing violence by arguing (not without justification) that Cardiff to Wrexham is actually a better rail service than Paris to Brussels.

Wow! Also, where’s Times Square? Is it the heavily lit street just above (what I assume is) Central Park?

From the air at night, Times Square looks like a crack in the earth’s mantle, a hole right into the molten core.
Manhattan from above, looking straight south. The rivers and Central Park are dark, the avenues are lines of gold, and Times Square makes is a white gash partway along.

One of the biggest myths is that men rape by mistake. Like, "Oh, they need consent training." But research is very clear: Sexual violence is not a mistake. It is an intentionally made decision by people who know they don't have consent. They just don't prioritize consent over things like status, power, domination, and sexual gratification.
For my research, I got a certificate of confidentiality from the National Institutes of Health, so my notes couldn't be subpoenaed. One of the reasons I call them perpetrators in my work is because every single person I interviewed confessed in that context. The first question I would ask them was, "When you received that email from Title IX that you were under investigation, did you know what it was about?" Every perpetrator I interviewed said "yes." If sexual assault were a miscommunication, you would be wondering, What have I possibly done wrong? That is not the way that any of them reacted because they knew.

Ouch. But it was a hugely lethargic performance. A lack of urgency except for a few flashes of brilliance. Bowie needs to be a starter, and there were some encouraging signs from new young players. Yes new managers need time, but Slovenia there for the taking on both counts. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ⚽️

Not a bad first half there. A bit sketchy at first but slowly settled into it. Fingers crossed for a more energetic second half.

Like I've always said, it's fundamentally a medicine and should only be available on prescription to those who need them as a smoking cessation aid. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

One million UK people who have never smoked are now vapers
Latest statistics also show, for the second year in a row, more over-16s vape than smoke.

If Dems actually take Congress in the midterms, the first damn thing should be abolish ICE and an amnesty for immigrants. I don't care if Trump will veto. Get it voted on and on record. Build trust that the party candidate will actually stand for something in 2028. (Action on Israel would help too.)

It is terrifying (not the same as in London but it happens to a degree everywhere). I was at a red today and saw a car sail through. I have no idea why traffic lights don’t have built in cameras so those who break the lights can be done automatically. Well, maybe I do: the car lobby.

“From a peak of 23,440 miles, the UK now has 9,785 miles of rail. Over 170 cities had tram systems, with nine today. British children used to walk six miles on their own, now they are lucky if they can safely walk 300 yards.” @felly500.bsky.social

Stir fry for dinner. Quite pleased with this one.
A shallow blue bowl with rice, tofu and veg (red onion, red pepper, courgette (yeah, I know), green beans and broccoli). It’s got a brown broth (lemon, ginger, soy sauce, a dash of sweet chilli sauce and some veg stock), and it’s scattered with chopped coriander and sesame seeds.

Hugely enjoyable cycle up the hill tonight. Expected it to be much colder than it was, and while it was blustery that helped keep me from overheating. Also, stopped at an honesty shed after spotting it on a past occasion. Not much (carryable) left which is a sign they’re doing a roaring trade. Yum.
Me, in cycling gear, helmet and sunglasses. The backdrop is a forest track, trees and a grey sky. A bike on a porch next to a light blue little shed with “Cakes” written on it. The interior of the cake shed in the previous picture. There are four shelves with various cakes on them.
