AI has lost the Mandate of Heaven I’m afraid. WSJ saying it’s a “when” the ai bubble bursts. SNL dabbing on their biggest names for being weird. FT says 50% of chips sold in 2026 and 2027 have nowhere to go. Hundreds of billions short on revenue for even 10% ROIC. A disaster.

"Concerns". In narrative and policy terms, the "legitimate concerns" paradigm must be one of the greatest political disasters of the modern era. A racism laundry run by centrist pundits and politicians, which has achieved one thing and one thing only: the mainstreaming of the far right.

To put this in perspective: the infamous Soviet crackdowns on Hungary and Czechoslovakia killed fewer than four thousand people, and various left wing people who stood by the Soviets for doing it were regarded as despicable pieces of shit. This is worse than that, on a barely comprehensible scale.

I've spent a lot of years studying a lot of collapses, and the truth of the matter is that they're always mundane: mild climatic shifts that reduce crop yields, a dumbass in power who makes some terrible decisions, neglecting things that obviously matter but the will to fix them can't be summoned.

LOL yes, Burnham is “lucky” in the same way that Starmer was “lucky”: they are both the beneficiaries of the British press realising they have catastrophically fucked it, and they need a tame, biddable dork to run things while they try to clean up the horrendous mess they created.

NEW: Bloomberg Saturday read
Andy Burnham is a lucky general as Nigel Farage is engulfed in scandal
— Just as the new PM was starting to face awkward questions from his own side about whether he really has a plan for power, Reform took the heat off him by descending into total chaos.
— Publicly Farage is defiant. Privately the mood among senior Reform figures is bleak after that bombshell sting. Several Reform politicians and officials who spoke to Bloomberg questioned whether Farage could recover, conceding that in a best case scenario it would take months for him to shake off the scandal and in a worse outcome it could bring him down.
— Some suggest prominent Reform figures will be considering whether they can replace him as leader Several said the Insa nf Dan lukes who

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.
Not only is this system astonishingly untested, USPS has simultaneously implemented an
impracticable zero percent failure rate.
13 When ballots are submitted to USPS in large-volume
batches, if any one ballot in the batch cannot be verified against the Portal, all ballots in that
batch will be rejected. For example, if a state election official brings a batch of 10,000 ballots to
USPS and USPS is unable to match just one of those ballots against the Portal – because, for
example, someone has recently changed their name after marriage or they’ve moved – then
USPS would refuse to mail the remaining 9,999 ballots as well. As the whistleblower notes,

They disinvented the VCR. You might think that the reason we don't have VCRs anymore is because VCRs were supplanted by DVDs, PVRs and streaming, but that's not the case. They had it in for the VCR from the very start, and they never stopped trying to kill it. Eventually, they succeeded. 1/
A 1960s family living room in which a mom, dad and two kids are mesmerized by a cabinet-style TV. The image has been altered. The TV has an early 1990s VCR atop it. The TV screen is displaying a cross-sectioned human head with brains and spine on display. A huge fist has materialized in the room, with bloody spiked knuckle-dusters, smashing into the VCR. The oil painting over the sofa has been replaced with a pulp image of a male head, its cranium removed and replaced by a dome. Inside the dome is a red eight-segment VCR clock, displaying 12:00. The background in the painting is a tangle of cassette tape. The whole image's colors have been boosted, giving it an overexposed look.
