7 panel comic.

Panel 1:
A Red Guy with AI across his chest looks like he’s about to run away. A Yellow Guy stands next to him. Red Guy says “I’m the future, buddy. You comin’?”
Yellow Guy replies “Nah”

Panel 2:
Red Guy is almost out of the panel. He leans in and says “Enjoy getting left behind, pal”
Yellow Guy replies “ok”

Panel 3:
Yellow Guy stands alone.

Panel 4:
Close up on Yellow Guy, there is a quiet “huff-huff-huff” noise coming from behind him

Panel 5:
Yellow Guy turns to look behind him

Panel 6:
Close up on Yellow Guy’s face as if from the point of view of an attacker.
Yellow Guy yells “Jesus Christ”

Panel 7:
AI Red Guy is now chasing the Yellow Guy.
Red Guy: “Use me”
Yellow Guy “No”
Red Guy “USE ME”

Nice work Australia! Turned the gas peaker plant “duck curve” on evening prices as solar stops generating, into a flat, platypus looking graph, as batteries charged on cheap daytime solar remove the need for expensive, evening peakers. youtu.be/jltRq_KlGH4?...

Fair question! I use the periods to avoid slandering the Alberts, Albertos, and Alfredos of the world. I use a lower case "i" to devalue the industry's claim of "intelligence," because "A.i." is not sentient. And I add the quotes because the whole thing is an inaccurate, bogus marketing term.

American farmers slid solar panels over 62,000 acres of farmland, and the biggest payoff had almost nothing to do with electricity
Long rows of solar panels march across the desert, and underneath them, where the ground should be baked and bare, there are rows of green.

I’d like to recognise Instavolt UK (although I can’t find them on here) for continuing to support electric vehicles that use chademo charging connectors. There’s still a good many of us out here but compatible charging stations are harder and harder to find.

My pet hate as a book seller is when customers pull open paperback books hard enough to break the spine, read a few words, and then replace them on the shelves. It happens more often than you’d think, and means we can no longer sell those books as new.

Sometimes people use "respect" to mean "treating someone like a person" and sometimes they use "respect" to mean "treating someone ike an authority"

and sometimes people who are used to being treated like an authority say "if you won't respect me I won't respect you" and they mean "if you won't treat me like an authority I won't treat you ike a person"

and they think they're being fair but they aren't, and it's not okay

@octopus.energy how will the new charge cap work if you control the charger and not the car? I have a Zappi2 and Leaf. I regularly see hours of ‘use’ with no actual charging taking place. How can you make sure the six hours are actually when the car is taking charge and not wasted?

A lot of media coverage of the ‘AI’ reading of the Herculaneum scrolls really fails to understand what’s happened here. There’s no language processing happening, the AI/ML is not trained on a corpus of texts or language. It can detect ink to see shapes. HUMAN EXPERTS are then transcribing the text.
A screenshot from here: https://www.ox.ac.uk/news/2025-02-07-inside-herculaneum-scroll-seen-first-time-almost-2000-years

It explains that the machine learning involves only the detection of ink

Today I was discussing Executive Dysfunction with some folks, and how in our household we call it "The Sits" I decided to make an info poster. It's based on my personal experience with it. Yes, the person is me 😆 #neurodivergent #memes #executivedysfunction
A meme poster showing someone in a chair, listing information about executive dysfunction
"Know you have something important to do, but just can't make yourself get up and DO it? You might have THE SITS" Also known as Executive Dysfunction, symptoms may include:
Hyperfocusing on one specific thing but not THE thing
Daydreaming or "spacing out"
Internally screaming at yourself to just DO the THING to no avail
Time blindness; where did the last 3 hours go?
Feeling overwhelmed by tasks which would take 5 minutes if you just got up and DID them, but instead take all day because of THE SITS

With ALT text. It also should be noted that all of those things are still available. Stop using genAI & search on your own. The reality is that living under capitalism means they will monetize anything they can get their hands on & convince you that you need to buy it from them. You don't.

Bro I'm so sick of pretending this isn't weird.

The internet spent 20 years creating tutorials, open-source projects, blog posts, & answers for free.

AI companies turned all of it into products worth billions.

And now the same people who created that knowledge are being told they're replaceable.

We built the library.

Someone else started charging admission.
